Saw the movie, directed by Ron Howard, yesterday. I enjoyed it. I am entirely self-educated about classical music, so I know very little about the technical aspects of voice, etc., and this film did not really get technical at all, which I appreciated. I read a snitty NPR review; the reviewer's complaints (too much hagiography) seemed silly upon viewing.

He did save Queen Elizabeth.

And sing the best damn version of the Star Spangled Banner of all time.

saw it yesterday. It was a great show - loved every minute of it.

I'm not a huge opera fan, and I was still mesmerized. Ron Howard did a great job. My only gripe is that he didn't cast his brother Clint as the fourth tenor.
