Just watched the Stones at Mile High in Denver. As much as I liked them at NRG this performance was 5-6 times better. The show looked a little bit more fine tuned than the NRG gig. Nevertheless, they are the Stones and the performance was fabulous

What specifically made Denver 5-6 times better than Houston? The Houston show received outstanding reviews from everyone I've talked to, including the reviews above. I liked the Stones-ish looseness of the show. A more fine tuned show sounds like a show with backing tracks or obvious choreography, like a pop singer would have. The only way I could have improved my review on the Houston show would have been better seats. I wouldn't have changed anything else.

Denver had pyrotechnics

Lots of pyrotechnics

The pyrotechnics were neat, but they didn't make the performance any better in my opinion.

Mile High is an outdoor stadium whereas NRG is not. That fact allowed for some visual aspects to take place at one that weren't at the other. The sound clarity was better, possibly due to the same factor; I'm not suggesting NRG should have opened the roof at all because we would have sweated to death.

Believe me, watching the Stones perform two shows two weeks apart was fantastic, but in my opinion Denver was an overall better performance.

That was my experience with Metallica. I saw the 3 TX shows back in 2017 but when I saw them at the Rose Bowl in July that show was just miles better than any of the 3 texas dates. Open air stadiums have less echo and seeing final song pyro is a good treat

I don't care about the pyrotechnics, but I can see where the outdoor or open roof would have helped with sound.

Plus, really, there was a small cloud hanging over the stadium all night. For whatever reason that helped everybody's attitude.

Actually, the cloud was large.

I saw them in New Orleans a few weeks before the Houston show. Absolutely incredible show.

I'll buy the "outdoor" thing. They're just better.

BTW, yeah...people would have burned up, but there's something about a sweaty rock and roll concert. The best shows I've ever seen, I walked out drenched.
