I'm rewatching The West Wing and I forgot how well written the dialogue for that show was. It was fast and funny and roundabout at times.

The only other show that was even close was Justified. Any other favorites?

Jokes were set up several episodes or even several seasons earlier and paid off beautifully.

I'm pretty sure 2 Broke Girls is made from all the jokes that didn't make the cut on Big Bang Theory.

Nothing new here but:

  • Arrested Development is #1 and it's not even close simply because they would set up a joke in S1E3 and then deliver the punchline two whole seasons later (illustrative example). Greatest show to ever grace TV.

I think Deadwood is debatable although I get why people list it. It's hard to follow though because the way it was written - Swearingen constantly talking in allusions. I frequently had to rewind and listen again to comprehend what it was he was actually referring to.

Never seen Justified.
