Justified and The Sopranos sit at the top.

VEEP easily has the best zingers and one-liners. Best written comedy show ever written.

Love Veep but I don't think anything in the comedy realm holds a candle to Seinfeld from a writing perspective. Even Curb is a notch below. The combo of Jerry & Larry + the team led by Alec Berg when the show was in its prime... Just incredible.

I will say after the first few eps of Justified I thought it was ridiculous.

By the end of s1 I was in but it wasn't my favorite show in the world. Every season after just kept building and building. So good.

Lot of bad choices listed here.

However, one stands above them all:

My wife binge watched Gilmore Girls, and it was insufferable.
I couldn't take it.

I was so angry that we are now in marriage counseling.

Can we have a separate category for ad-libbed dialogue for Rick and Morty?

Making it only about 3-4 episodes is the problem. They were trying to find their legs in season 1 and it was sort of like a CBS drama with a new adventure every week. Season 2 until the end, they focused on an arching storyline and it got way better.

+1 for Boston Legal.

Since then, will agree with:

Always Sunny in Philadelphia -- one of my favorite comedies of all time
Arrested Development - ditto
Fargo (FX series) - OUTSTANDING (and a big thumbs up to Jesse Plemons finding the courage to outkick his coverage and impregnate Kirsten Dunst via their co-starring status )
Party Down -- still a bit under-the-radar for comedy series fan awareness, lots of up and comers in this great show
Better Call Saul -- will close to rival Breaking Bad in recognition when all is said and done

will now start watching VEEP because of this thread. I always knew it was 'good' but didn't realize the bestowed greatness by it's fans.

I've never watched any show with better dialogue than The West Wing and The Newsroom. Both are by Sorkin though so it figures.

The only thing to note about Sorkin's dialogue is that it's not realistic. Nobody speaks like that in real life.

But weirdly, it's also kind of what makes his dialog so good..

Kind of like Tarantino.

So many jokes from Dallas' The Ticket that it became its own game to listen and try and pick up on them.
