Or movies where the plot is entirely irrelevant. Character and dialogue driven movies.

In no order:

Boyhood
Before Midnight
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
Clerks

I wonder if people who dislike this kind of movie dislike them all?

The Big Lebowski.

Yes, there was a "plot." But at the end, those are just abandoned because the main character just stopped giving a sh*t about them and went bowling.

I would say all of these have a pretty distinct plot, save for Pines, but that's because of its unique structure more than anything else. Even then, each timeline has a fairly contained plot.

As previously mentioned, think Linklater "hangout" movies like Dazed and Confused, Boyhood, or Everybody Wants Some.

I would also add...

- American Graffiti
- The Big Chill
- Clerks

Yeah I see what you're saying. I would still say they're more dialogue driven than plot. I was thinking of it from the perspective that they all kinda end pretty close to where they start... not a whole lot of story evolution.

Kings speech for example. Comparing the beginning to the end: same characters, same relationships, same setting, same time, etc. only difference, he delivers a speech.

I knew I was thinking of it differently when I saw the other responses. Did I sell you?

I think Simon and Garfunkel said it best:

How many plot holes does a movie need before it is considered "plotless"

What are you talking about? It is the perfect coming of middle age movie ever made.

When a movie ends with the characters even admitting they have no idea what happened, that's the best

Ha! I just watched this the other day. My dad had all the Cheech and Chong movies on BetaMax when I was a kid and I used to watch them all the time. I've seen Up in Smoke, Next Movie, and Nice Dreams a million times, but I always stop and watch again when I see they are on TV. Love them.

I feel like there's probably less of these sorts of films than people think.

A story can be told in a non-linear way, or from different viewpoints that eventually converge, but that doesn't mean there's no story. It can be an indicator but IMO isn't a defining factor.

Things like Bad Times at the El Royale, most Tarantino films, Crash, Traffic, etc., are non-linear or weirdly interwoven but still have a plot that drives the film forward. I'd put Crash and probably Once Upon a Time in Hollywood as the least story-driven of those.

Just sort of thinking out loud...

I would agree. Even Pulp Fiction has a plot.

I think the purest examples are just about any Linklater movie, or Clerks.
