True Lies, the rock, con air are probably my favorites. Also 3000 to Graceland. Again, just opinions.

Lol I don't mind...we are debating opinions here, nothing to worry about. For fairly recent movies, I like the Bourne movies, the Nolan bat man movies, John wick movies.

But I prefer 90s / early 2000s cheese:

Con Air is a fun movie that I enjoy watching sometimes, but how in the hell can you love something as ridiculous and terrible as that and not even be able to handle MI:Fallout?

Because if feel like con air was intentionally that way. It felt like mi was trying not to be.

That's like believing Tommy Wiseau was in on the joke when he made The Room.

You really think Nick Cage (of all people) was purposely making his Cajun accent an abomination?

Nobody makes a movie that ridiculous on purpose without Leslie Nielsen in it.

I've never been a huge MI fan. I've enjoyed most, but didn't love any, that is until Fallout. That movie has the most spectacular action scenes of any movie I've ever seen and better car chase sequences than anything in the FF movies. All action movies are cheesy. Even the baddest Special Forces person on the planet couldn't do what John McClane does in Die Hard.

I guess I'm just not a fan of action movies any more. I watched the rest of it today. It sucked.

There are only two movies I've thought we're bad that seemed to be universally acclaimed. This one and Cape Fear with DeNiro. I've tried that movie over and over and I just don't get it.

Anyways, I'll concede it's probably something about me rather than the movie...just doesn't work for me.

What was cheesy at the beginning to some of you? The Wolf Blitzer stuff? Because that's one of the most brilliant scenes I've seen in I don't know long. Outside of that, I can't think of anything else that could be considered even remotely cheesy.

If the Wolf Blitzer scene was brilliant, then it was as a throwback to the 1995 Mission Impossible. I give them high marks for nostalgia there, but not originality.

I've posted this before, but I didn't care for Fallout. I really enjoyed Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation, but I walked out of Fallout with 30 minutes left because the denouement seemed so cliched that I honestly didn't care how it ended.

The movie had some truly great moments, like the Wolf Blitzer scene, Ethan contemplating having to kill innocent people to maintain his cover, and Lark getting played. And there were some clever callbacks, like the White Widow being Max's daughter.

But none of the action scenes really captivated me, as well made and challenging as I'm sure they were. One of them was just Tom Cruise running. I think that's when I started looking at my watch. And Henry Cavill's character was so god-awful that it sunk the rest of the movie. Wooden and one-dimensional with a nonsensical backstory. I love me some Henry Cavill but he was virtually unwatchable in this movie. It felt like Hollywood trying way too hard to shoehorn the guy into a blockbuster film that didn't need him.

Rogue Nation is a much better movie. Flame away.

The only thing that annoyed me about the MI movies was the fake mask/voice changer ploy. I believe it was Fallout where the machine broke and I silently rejoiced.

I enjoyed the movie a lot, but I think the Wolf Blitzer bit and halo jump are getting overrated. If you've ever seen an MI movie before, you should have immediately known Wolf Blitzer was a fake. And, although halo jumps are cool, adding the clouds made it much less impressive. It was not clear how high they were jumping from, nor was it clear that is was even a real jump and not done on a sound stage. It might have well just been Aquaman jumping out of a plane without a parachute. I thought the helicopter scene at the end, and the motorcycle chase were much more impressive.

Agreed. I can't remember the details of the action sequences in Fallout, but I seem to recall it and MI5 having some of the best motorcycle chase work I've seen on film.

There's just something awesome about a motorcycle chase in movies. Probably deserves its own thread.

I guess I can see that. It *is* a little awkward on the cargo plane, right before they jump, and then when they land on the roof of that party, but I guess I've rewatched it so many times I see what they were doing with all of that. I seriously think I've rewatched the movie itself four full times since my initial viewing, just over a year ago; a second time in the theater and then three times on Blu-ray. I don't think I've done that with any other movie in the past ten years or so. It's just sooooo good.

I quit watching shortly after the halo jump. If that wasn't cheesy then I don't know what is.

Lots of fans in here I see....I'll give it another shot.
Saw it in IMAX. Was pretty damn good.

Cruise actually did a lot of the flying of the helo.

Nothing will ever beat MI:2 with the tires that magically change from road tires to knobby tires and back again...

I agree about the HALO jump. Would've been better if it had been clear they were doing a real jump.

Overall I didnt think Fallout was any better than Rogue Nation, but then I liked Rogue Nation a whole lot so...

Fallout is my favorite action movie of all time. The chase scene(s) were incredible. I've been a fan of MI movies, but Fallout surprised the hell out of me with how good it was.

Fallout is greatness. Best action film of all time. The HALO jump (regardless of the clouds), motorcycle and car chase through Paris, TC hauling ass through London, the helicopter chase.

That sh*t was wild. I can't wait to see what McQuarrie and Cruise come up with in the next few years.

If the movie was serious, they would have hired the real wolf blitzer to play in that scene instead of just using a fancy mask.

MI2 is cheesy awesomeness. Just like Face/Off.

Just watched MI2 for the first time since I saw it in the theater when I was in high school. It is definitely the weakest entry in the series, but I think it's better to look at it as a standard John Woo over the top action film based on characters from Mission Impossible, and like said above, it's great for what it is, awesome cheese. Ethan is more like a cross between Neo and James Bond in this one. Constantly doing flips while shooting people. Way too many mask switcharoos and the damn doves....geez.
