Would have preferred an Age of Heroes one. Like with Star Wars OR stories, there's just so much more you can do storytelling-wise when you separate the source material by a much longer timeline.

Sidenote: looking up Naomi Watts, I can't believe she's 51 now. Seems like just yesterday I was fapping to her scenes in Mulholland Drive. Sucks for an actress her age to lose a premium series lead like this.
It was yesterday.

Most writers of his ilk are far more than their IMDB credits. Benioff was a huge script doctor/fixer for years. Studios bring in big hitters like him to do uncredited work when they're in a pinch or just want a quick polish on something. Kind of like a closer in baseball.

So pretty much Miles Finch in elf. Who was played by Peter Dinklage...see what I did there? You put the quarter in. You go up and down and around. Circular, circle....

So do things like this ever see the light of day, or do they completely write this off and not even try and reclaim a single dollar?

Unless some rogue employee leaks it, it'll never see the light of day.

So, like the Indiana Jones trilogy, do we agree that there are only 7 seasons of GoT?

Unrelated question that I don't want to ask in the Star Wars thread lest someone starts being ****ty about it...

Do you think it's possible the supposed Star Wars leaks were purposeful and done to throw people off the real story? It just seems like something JJ would do.

Maybe some of them? I still don't think they're 100% accurate, simply because of the game of telephone, from many different "sources," that the guy was drawing from. And I guess one of those sources could have been purposefully misleading. That, and the breakdowns aren't very fleshed out in parts, with quite a few holes, to begin with. But like I said, he got a ton right in the latest trailer. For instance, he talked specifically about that C-3PO scene. I obviously won't give the context he provided, or spoil it any way, but he said something along the lines of, "... and it's apparently one of the most emotional scenes in the movie." Then, lo and behold, six or so weeks later, that scene is in the trailer - details right and everything - and it's the most emotional moment in the trailer. So he's at least spot-on in that and a few other regards.

Why?

I am glad they are off of SW, I made the point during the last season of GoT that these guys were exposed and had no business on that project. The further they got from the source material in GoT, the worse things got. By the end it was borderline garbage compared to the seasons where they had clear paths via the books.

New update:

D&D left Star Wars (or were "softly removed") back in May, well before the Netflix deal.

This whole thing is so weird.

On one hand, that would make a lot more sense, re: them taking on the Netflix deal. But I just looked it up, and Disney/Lucasfilm officially announced the December 16, 2022 release date for the first Benioff & Weiss SW film on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 - which would obviously not jibe at all with this report. Nothing is adding is up. So weird, indeed...

I still think the best 1-2 season series would have been Robert Barotheon's Rebellion and the events leading up to it. Some people could have played themselves, most would have been much younger so you could recast with no issues.

Wish we could get a new last season of GOT and pretend like the original season 8 never existed.

except Robert's rebellion is not that great of a story

I think it's a decent story although maybe just a single season. The tragedy of the secret love leading to misunderstanding and war is a good one. Especially as the most like able character (Rhaeggar) wasn't really in the first series and is cast as "the bad guy" by half the cast. Robert as a hair-trigger, hell-raiser might be the bad guy. Tywin at the peak of his powers would be fascinating and maybe moved the war forward for his own agenda (revenge, taking over the throne). OH and we'd get Howland Reed for sure!

Respectfully disagree.

And young Ned is cast. Lyannae too.

what if it comes out (hinted at in the interview) that these guys were just a bunch of frauds the whole time?
Considering the direction of the series once they ran out of source material, I'd say that's already come out.

New series planned is set 300 years minus GOT and is based on the Taegaryeans.

I feel like this has SW syndrome written all over it. They may be trying to strike while the iron is hot but instead, they will saturate the market. It's good to continue to explore the lore but I hope they do it well with quality and need service.

Mostly older characters. I guess my first thought was Tywin Lannister

I thought a single season showing pivotal moments in the life of Robert and Rhaegar would be fantastic story telling. SHow how both are raised. Robert's famly tragedy with his parents dying at sea while Rhaegar is born in the worst Targ tragedy (Summerhall) since the Dance of the Dragons.

THen you move forward to how Robert is this bellicose, lusty young man hellbent on fghting, and Rhaeger is the studious one until he realizes how he needs to become a warrior to be a king. Show his father's descent into madness.

Show the scene where Aerys disses Tywin on Rhaeger marrying Cersei and how it effects everyone.

SEe how boht men fall in love with Lyanna.

Last episode is obvously battle on the Trident.

I really enjoyed Fire & Blood once I started reading it like a text book instead of a novel. They need to start it earlier wit the Targ girl having teh vision of the destruction of Valyria which prompetedt heir move to Dragonstone.

For anyone that hasn't read Fire and Blood it's worth it, if you want to read something written like a history book. There's so much in there for such a long time that there's plenty to draw from, regardless of how long they decide to do the series. This interests me because they go into lots of detail about the dragons as well. I just hope that Balerion The Black Dread gets some screen time, the largest of all the dragons, whose head was under the Red Keep. This book makes a ton of sense just for having source material. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms would be good too, but GRRM said that material is off limits to HBO.

Makes sense. Who wants to watch a show about the rise of the Night's King when he goes out like a ***** in one episode? The show erased the mystery and fear of the villain with that crappy S8 copout.
In my mind just to feel better about myself, I erase everything about the White Walkers after the Hard Home episode. You know, back when everybody thought Westeros was absolutely screwed, back when you think that the politics and backstabbing for the throne really don't matter because they're all about to get slaughtered............ and then Benioff and Weiss took over the story...
