I don't know about y'all, but I am stoked for this. I figured they would reunite eventually. And they announced it on Halloween for all the emos of the world. Now to find my black eyeliner.

Maybe they can finally tour with Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, and Twenty One Pilots after all these years.

I really like MCR and think Black Parade is a solid album, but the one time I saw them live (at voodoo fest) it was a trainwreck

Not saying I'd go to a show of MCR, FOB, and P@TD, but.....

never knew they broke up.

Saw them with Muse opening years ago.. a show that clearly was backwards and should have had MCR open for Muse. MCR came back to Houston either at a buzzfest type show, or HOB when on their own.

Muse comes back and plays toyota center all on their own over and over.

Wonder if Joe Rogan will make a show...

(Kevin Smith revealed on his Joe's podcast last week that Joe and Gerard were cousins. Joe knew but has never met him.)

Throw in blink-182, Jimmy Eat World, Yellowcard, the Ataris, Motion City Soundtrack, MxPx, The Wonder Years, the Get Up Kids, and the Offspring...I would pay a lot for that.

Oh I like that.

Saw 311 and The Offspring last year. The Offspring definitely look worse for wear. Those two bands are about the same age, but The Offspring guys looked 15 years older.

Great additions. Also, the hives, Hawthorne heights, sugarcult, and throw in N.E.R.D. for some diversity.

It's a shame, but I think we've seen the last of Brand New.

Serious question, those that are into this music, what age where you when you got into these bands?

I must have been already been too old.. this whole list is just awful to me, save for some of 90s stuff like offspring and green day, which I only really latch on to because of the nostalgic factor (middle school when they got big)

For me, I was about 13 when blink got huge (Enema of the state) and then that kind of developed a lot of what I really listened to. I had heard Dookie when it came out because of my aunt who was in college, but I was around 8 or so, so it didn't really make sense to me. After blink, I just started listening to more of the pop-punk, punk, rock, and so on.
So, for me, these are a lot of bands I've listened to for the majority of my life which is kinda weird. I still go to shows for these bands and listen to their new albums when they drop. I'm stoked for Hella Mega (Weezer, Green Day, Fall Out Boy) in 2020. Going to Motion City Soundtrack in January. Saw blink a few months ago. Now, I wait for MCR to announce a big tour.

Hopefully it isn't just this one show which sold out in minutes and MCR will do a full tour. I saw them a couple of times back in the day and always thought they put on a good show.

If you are looking for an "early 00's nostalgia punk fest" your best bet is probably RiotFest in Chicago. With Warped Tour being over it is basically the last festival holding the torch for punk / rock / punk-pop. Across the board they get pretty good headliners, mid level, and lower level bands with a bunch of random other stuff mixed in. In fact if I were a betting man i'd put money on MCR headlining Riotfest 2020.

I saw MCR and Blink together at the Woodlands years ago. Just looked it up and was shocked to see it was 2011....can't believe it's been that long.

And I was big into Taking Back Sunday, Further Seems Forever, Jimmy Eat World, Juliana Theory, Dashboard, Finch, and Thursday around 2000. That would have been my sophomore year of HS.

Crazy that I have seen several of those bands again in the last few years.

OK.. I was figuring the average fan of this genre would have to be a teen when it came around. Not to knock on it, but it all seems to be a bit immature for someone in their 20s to latch on to for the first time. Just the whole emo part of it I guess.

So yeh, I guess I was too old to get into this stuff. Most of it seems it came out when I was in college or later. None of these bands clicked with me at all, again except for some of it that came out early 90s (G.D., Offspring), and, randomly, I love the album Chuck by Sum 41. But looking it up on wiki, it explains it as a much more metal offering from them.. so as a metalhead, that makes sense.

My middle school/high school timing was grunge, which is what I still to listen to very often.

Funny how your formative years really define what you will stick with for life, as far as music is concerned.

My favorite band in highschool was The Beautiful Mistake. I haven't seen anyone mention them, they were seriously underrated.

But can I ask why Flyleaf made the list posted above? That sticks out like a sore thumb.

Oh man, so many memories on this thread of warped tours and being packed into tiny venues and my time with KANM. I might have to spring for tickets when this comes through town.

I always wish I could have gone to the Pop Punk Disaster Tour in 2002. I was around 16 and there was no way I would have convinced my dad or anyone to take me. blink, Green Day, and Jimmy Eat World. What a frigging tour.

ugh.. I spent way too much money on pit tickets to that show at the woodlands trying to impress a girl!

My similar story is being 12 and too afraid to ask my parents to go see Metallica/GnR lol.

The only thing I want to add to this thread is that Jimmy Eat World just released a new album last week and it's really good.
