my guess as well.

Not trying to turn this political, but we ARE talking RATM, so...

Ever since trump took office, i've been telling on of my friends that I wish rage was still around b/c they'd be making some great music.

Anyone expecting a Rage thread to not get political at some point is an idiot. And ever since election night I've been expecting this. Can't believe it took this long for Zack to wake up. Glad he finally did.

It's a shame Chris Cornell is dead (for many reasons).
I always enjoyed the 'Audioslave is better than RATM and/or Soundgarden' threads

i've seen these guys 4 times, and every time was f-ing awesome.

I had tickets to the RATM/Beasties show in san antonio, then Mike D (pretty sure it was him) got in a motorcycle accident, they canceled the tour date, and then rage broke up. I'm still pissed that show didn't happen.

My biggest live music regret is never seeing RATM live. Amazing that I might be able to remedy that. Stoked as hell.

I think they broke up in 2000, but I guess plenty of people on the right dont think GWB was 'red'.

The last time I ever waited in line to buy a ticket was for there Battle of Los Angeles tour in 99 My roommates and I went to Foley's at post oak mall to buy tickets. We were first in line, able to get 6 mosh pit tickets, then it was sold out immediately

These lefty entertainment "radicals" are the biggest hypocrites on the planet. Raging at the establishment and unnecessary wars, etc... until a Dem gets in office and then they disappear. Only to reappear when a Republican gets in office.

As long as "their" party is dropping bombs on people all around the world and using governmental power to crush dissent then everything is just fine and dandy.

Of course your average Republican can be just as hypocritical on a whole host of issues, but they are just less pompous about it.

lol, ok. Guess you missed the fact that they were around for all of Clinton. They broke up when Bush took office. They briefly reunited during 2007-2011, for part of Bush and then 3 years of Obama. I'm sure their existence and breakups were solely based on who was in office.

FTR - i can't stand most politicians, regardless of political party.

Tom Morello calls out Barack Obama for "war crimes"

Quote:

Morello has been a vocal critic of Obama for a number of years, telling The Hollywood Reporter back in 2012 that he "drank the Kool-Aid" in being swept up by the fervour of Obama's initial election to the US presidency in 2008.

"I drank a little bit of the Kool-Aid initially," he said. "It looked different than any other president, sounded different than any other president and then he acted the same as all the other presidents. If you have war crimes on your record, and you still continue to suck at the corporate teat like he does my hopes were higher."

Time for a retraction on your last post, old buddy.

That is hardly comparable levels of criticism.

But at least it is something.

Just not very many.

I guess the winky didn't do its job. My post was a joke, not a comment of complete precision and truth.

But if I had to guess I think I know where the band's political views would probably lean

Prophets of Rage's Tom Morello: Why Trump, Sanders are not truly anti-establishment

Quote:

Morello, who recently knocked Trump as a "racist demagogue and called Sanders a "dreamer," said that while presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton is "the lesser of two evils," she supported policies that led to a "horrific quagmire" in the Middle East and is loyal to big money and Wall Street.
Of course his political views will be closer to that of the Democrats than the Republicans but even he isn't a fan of that party. So it's easy to see why he's more vocal against the GOP.

What's funny is that you think a radical left musician like Morello or De La Rocha is into the same dumb identity politics where one major party can do no wrong and the other major party is evil. It's almost like you've never even listened to their music and just absently wandered in here by mistake.

OK, sounds like I might be wrong on him. Happy to hear it.

I agree with his stated views towards Ted Nugent. People that think the political spectrum is a straight line instead of more of a circle often make this mistake.

Morello actually has a degree from Harvard so he's a bit more educated than your average rocker. I love his music and agree with some of the message. But the energy at a RATM show is unmatched and needs to be experienced firsthand.

I first heard Morello speak not too long ago. Not at all like I expected him to be. He's a total nerd. That was shocking to me.
