On what planet would Springsteen not unquestionably make this list? You people are fools

Because this board has some really dumb group think opinions sometimes and the Springsteen one is one of the worst. I honestly think 90% of the folks who **** on him here have no idea of his catalog outside of the BITUSA era.

Same type of deal as the Dylan comment earlier. "He is unlistenable". Complete lack of knowledge and effort on the posters part.

Steve Perry
Don Henley

Two of the most iconic and easily recognizable / hardest to duplicate voices in all of music.

Steve Perry is hard to duplicate? The Filipino who is currently singing for Journey sounds just like him. Geoff Tate sounds a lot like him too, just a little deeper.
And....

that's pretty much it. Steve Augeri might be a close third, but he pretty much shot his voice to hell trying to replace Perry.

Perry himself copied his sound from the original, Sam Cooke.
Look, I like Journey and Perry but he's really not in serious consideration for this list.

I'm not a Springsteen fan, but he's no lower than 15. I think people on here are just naming favorites and not being objective. Dave Grohl? He's maybe top 10 if you only focused on the last 30 years, but putting him in the top 10 among all the living is crazy.

I'm a fan, admittedly, but objectively there is absolutely no way he's not in the top 10.
Springsteen I mean. Not Grohl.

The Dylan part is probably because he's an "EVIL LIB"

I consider that in the criticism of Springsteen too.

I'm a big Springsteen fan, but he basically took folk/ storytelling and brought it to rock. Great music...just don't know who I would remove for my list, other than maybe Bono or Davies.
I certainly wouldn't fight anyone who had Bruce on their list though. In the end it's a matter of what you view as important.

Y'all throw out insults like dumb group think, arrogant parsing, fools, lack of knowledge, and then act like your the reasonable, learned, people posting here.

It's music. Not unlike movies, opinions may in fact vary.

You're. Just kidding!!

Yeah, I can see how that came across. I didn't mean it that way and wasn't attempting to insult anyone. That stated, if you've been around this board long enough you know that what I wrote is true in many cases.
You know as well as I do that a mob mentality sort of takes over on certain subjects around here, hence my group think comment. The parsing comment is also far from a reach. How many years do we have the same tired argument about what is and isn't rock when the RRHOF nominations/inductions happen? EVERY. DAMN. YEAR. The fact that people still act like it's a shock that the term "rock and roll" has been expanded to include tangential genres is maddening. Furthermore, the idea that The Beatles (THE FREAKING BEATLES!!!" may or may not be rock and roll is the epitome of "arrogant parsing".
Yes, opinions vary...I've always been a proponent of that on this board....no skin off my ass if you don't like what I like. That stated, the idea that Bob Dylan isn't a legend because someone finds him "unlistenable" is ludicrous. Sometimes people just have opinions that are wrong. You don't like Bob Dylan? Fine, I can understand that. Arguing that he can't be considered rock and/or a living legend because you simply don't like the way he sounds....that's a different story.

Absolutely love Grohl but he doesn't sniff the Top 20 at this point. Not really a Springsteen fan but he has to be on there, as does Ringo. He's a ****ing Beatle for chrissakes. Dylan is a must as well.

List must include dylan. Would also need to include roger waters/David Gilmore.

Dave grohl and slash? Please. If they're close then James Hetfield needs to be on there. Releasing albums 30+ years later. Hell. I put billy corgan above slash.

Tina Turner
Stevie Nicks
Joni Mitchell
Chrissie Hynde

Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey have got to be on there IMO.

Bob Dylan has to be on there like it or not as well as Roger Waters / David Gilmore.

His voice is ridiculous and I think his music sucks. It's an opinion and has nothing at all to do with my knowledge.

I don't know what his politics are although I'm sure you are correct in that he's a lib. That is irrelevant though considering probably everyone on any list on this thread is a liberal.

Probably not in my mind.

Nothing against their contribution but its hard to justify deleting one of the aforementioned to force diversity. That's just the way it is.

Oh, great point. Chrissie Hynde is a badass and for sure a rock legend.
The Wilson sisters (Ann and Nancy, not Carnie and Wendy) need to be on that list too.

I bet you love Tom Petty though. And Willie Nelson. And maybe even REK. All " ridiculous" voices but great songwriters and story tellers.

I do but it's an irrelevant comparison. I can't stand his voice and I don't know what else to tell you.

I also can't stand Geddy Lees voice and I own their whole catalog and have listened to it multiple times trying to like it - buddy of mine game me catalog trying to get me to get on board with them. I do appreciate their talent but vocals are terrible.

Who are the top of the top 10? The ones that undeniably belong, and it would be asinine to omit them? My opinion, there are 4:

Paul McCartney
Mick Jagger
Eric Clapton
Robert Plant

Addendum:
I also think Ozzy belongs on the top 10 list. Personally, I think omitting him would be asinine, but get why he may be overlooked.
