Anyone else?

This is a pure nostalgia play for me as I grew up in 60's rushing home from Elementary School to watch. It's so slow moving I mostly listen to it on phone like a podcast just glancing over at phone during action scenes, but hooked again. Up to about episode 215 where Barnabas has finally shown up. Each episode is about 20 minutes.

I have never seen these. Was about to watch a week ago but got interrupted. Is it basically a horror soap opera? I see that it is daytime tv so that is what I assumed.

It was a gothic soap opera centered on the Maine Collins family in the late 1960's. Until about episode 210 it is a soap opera with a few ghost interations and a lady that is like a phoenix (reborn every 100 yrs in fire). At episode 210 main character Barnabas shows up who is the family vampire. Later it goes back in time. Story lines also include witches, Frankenstein character, Werewolf, etc. Done live so plenty of line screw-ups, plus lighting and camera whoops that make it kind of fun.

If want to check out may want to skip to about episode 200 to start. I started at beginning because as kid missed beginning and helps to understand characters.

Dark Shadows was a big deal in late 60's. I remember getting a board game based on the show and a few comic books I think came out.

I really enjoyed the film House of Dark Shadows because it takes part of the tv soap opera storyline and compresses it down into a stand-alone piece. Also remember liking the 90s reboot series with Ben Cross on NBC but it didn't last.

Haven't given the most recent movie a shot because it looks horrible.

My mom grew up with Dark Shadows and loved it.
