1. Politically, two things turn me off. One is if I know they oppose me politically and spend a lot of their personal money on causes that I think are very bad for America. Second, and by far more likely to get me to notice, is if they seem to have real hatred for people "like me". I don't care a lot if they have different opinions, but that hate is what gets me. Actors are mostly dumbasses, but so are people in general. So disagreements alone don't bother me.

2. For personal foibles... I have a much harder time separating films (visual) from the actor compared to separating music (aural) from the singer.

3. I go out of my way to avoid hearing the thoughts and opinions of the airheads on screen and airwaves, but I also go out of my way to avoid hearing the political thoughts of my friends and colleagues and family. People are stupid, or I'm stupid, but I have very definite beliefs and thought processes. It is very rare for me to hear a political opinion without cringing.

I cannot enjoy an Alyssa Milano work. She has impacted my enjoyment of Commando where I now root for Arius to win.

I really don't care when it comes to the political stuff. When an actor/sports figure/director starts running their mouth, my mind goes to that scene in The Aviator where Howard Hughes tells Katherine Hepburn "You are a movie star. Nothing more." This country conflates talent with insight far too often.

Regarding despicable behavior, I wouldn't say I make it a point to sensor myself from it, but it has a way of detracting on a subconscious level where I don't enjoy it anymore. This is especially true with actors. Case in point, Kevin Spacey. I loved Baby Driver to the point where I watched it multiple times before the Spacey news broke. Now, I just don't have the desire to watch it. I came across it randomly, and it's almost like knowing what we know now kind of breaks the "spell" of the movie, and prevents me from seeing him as the character as opposed to the man.

Ansel Elgort is the worst thing about baby driver, even accounting for Spacey.

Truly bad (Jackson, Cosby, R Kelly, etc.) - I can't separate. The act of the artist ruins the art.

Where it's a political difference, or a cheat-on-your-wife-hit-by-a-9-iron, "morals" thing, I have zero issue separating.
