Thanks to Firefox, I ran into an article on the NYTimes today about Tom Hanks and, somewhat, his new movie A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. I enjoyed it and thought others might, as well.

I really enjoyed it, but I also have to laugh at this mentality of "oh man our world has gotten so bad, everything is so grim and the idea of being kind to each other is antiquated". What world does this person live in? The only thing that has changed is our access to information, and if you only focus on the negative of course you're going to feel like the world is getting worse. I would argue we have gotten kinder.

World views change back and forth with the political winds. It's just how our society is today.

So for me, I just have to choose to appreciate the good from his work and leave it at that. I look forward to seeing this film.
