Without spoilers - what is the general consensus - just want to know what I am getting myself into. I thought Season 1 was good, not phenomenal, but I enjoyed watching it and am looking forward to Season 2.

My wife and I stopped watching it after a couple of episodes. We just couldn't get into it.
Did yall like Season 1?
We liked it but didn't love it. We were big fans of season 1. I think it's mostly the story - not the plot per se, that was fine, but the subject matter.
The intrigue of south america and corruption there is not as relatable or engaging to us i think to terrorism and the US directly.

It's not that many episodes, like 8, right? Not a tremendous time investment. Worth watching. About on par with Season 1, imo. Several extremely far-fetched things happen, but if you can resist the urge to get hung up on "oh, that would NEVER happen!" you should be able to enjoy it. Kinda cool that Doug Stamper is in it (not the actor's name, it's the House of Cards character he played.)
I only know him as Doug Stamper - would have no clue if you said his real name - so thanks!

it is an entertaining park the brain action adventure season. If you go in looking for book Jack Ryan, you will probably be disappointed.

Also Noomi Rapace (Prometheus/Alien Covenant, Sherlock 2, and the Swedish "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" trilogy) and Tom Wlaschiha (Faceless man from GOT) were at least interesting cast adds.
I liked Season 1 because the character was true to the novels but they turned Ryan into Rambo in Season 2 and it is utterly ridiculous.
Not quite finished but really enjoying this season.
S1 was a bit of a slow burn, story took a while to get going but the last few eps were outstanding. This season goes big from the first episode and I'm enjoying the political/election subplot.

It's entertaining, but not very good IMO. And I was a big fan of the first season and really looking forward to the second.

I enjoyed the first season. We watched season two all the way through, and though it could have been better, it was worth watching.
Very underwhelming.

I was really looking forward to this show when I signed up for Amazon Prime b/c John Krasinski is a class act and great actor.
But as Duncan Idaho pointed out, it did "trigger" a certain board and upon their recommendation I lost my enthusiasm.

It was fine. There was some stupid parts as mentioned but it's still entertaining.
Yes, Loudest Whoop Pei much summed up my thoughts. It just isn't compelling given our entertainment choices now.
Really enjoyed the 1st season. The 2nd season was just ok. Disappointing compared to the 1st season.
They do seem to be sliding Jack Ryan from brilliant analyst to action hero.

True. But did we ever see Jack in the office after the first episode?

I tend to prefer the common man rising to the occasion over bullet-proof CIA Analyst Frank Castle.
season 2 was terrible. no real story, wasted new characters. the writers just completely said eff it and make ryan a character from fast and furious

Season 2 was okay. I didn't understand all the f16 hate over this show. You can check my posting history and see that is usually where I post. I liked season 1 better for many of the reasons above and this season Jack ryan didnt really seem like the book character I really enjoy. If you liked season 1, you should watch it, just know it is not as good.
To be fair I never read the books (but sounds like I definitely should!)
I just was more interested in the setting and "story" of season two. After almost two decades of Islamic terrorist headlines I appreciated something different.

Watch it like a Bond movie. Suspend disbelief, take it for what it is and you'll enjoy it.
