ET terrified the crap out of me as a kid. I had so many nightmares about that little guy chasing me.
ET not so much, but the scene where they quarantine the house in the hazmat suits always freaked me out.swimmerbabe11 said:

And in so doing, they would draw the ire of all the TexAgs experts who can all do so much better with CGI than what we get in movies like this.West Point Aggie said:
They could have updated the thing so it didn't look like a rubber toy...I mean 1982 was a long time ago
She's not alone. I hated it when I saw it in the theater when I was a kid and have never seen more than a few minutes of it since. Glad so many loved it but it just wasn't my bag.dreyOO said:

AM I remembering correctly that there were some ET senators in the Senate when Palpatine was chancelorized?
Opening scene with them playing D&D is one of my favorites because that was me and my friends then.policywonk98 said:
It was an incredible movie in 1982. Yeah, we had Star Wars, Alien, Trek, etc etc. Those were all galaxies far far away.
But Spielberg put an endearing alien creature in the shed of a boy in Suburbantown and then gave that boy an adventure with a John William's soundtrack and Dee Wallace, Peter Coyote, and a young Child Hollywood royal with Barrymore in support.
It was all very brilliant imho.
