But then we'd have 15 less laughs!

I laugh at every brick, every time. How many bricks are there, 5?

I've watched that movie at least every year since 92.

That's 27 x 5 = 135 laughs. Thanks, bricks.

Most of the stuff it shows getting checked out at the grocery store in the scene before the bag rip (namely laundry detergent) isn't in the bags and doesn't fall out.

Just introduced both Home Alone 1 and 2 to my six year old daughter. It was neat seeing her reactions to everything for the first time. She loved them.

Home Alone came out right about the time I graduated from A&M. I was too pre-occupied with other life things than seeing movies about some brat kid left home by idiot parents (although I did find time to see Dances With Wolves multiple times).

I literally watched Home Alone for the first time after my daughter was born in 2006. Yeah, I missed out all those years. That is one of the best movies I've seen. Love it. I laugh out loud each year at Christmas while watching with the family. We watched it on TNT probably in 2008-2009, I don't recall which year, and I immediately got onto Amazon and bought the first two movies on bluray, and got John Williams' wonderful score as well.

I'm up here you morons! That line always cracks me up.

One of the earliest movie theater memories I have (in fact, I think it's THE first) is my mom taking me to see Home Alone 2. I was 4.

I was pretty obsessed with the first one, as was everyone at the time, so I was crazy excited for that. It was my Star Wars. And of course I got the Talkboy for Christmas that year.

I saw it in the theater but I was preoccupied with a 16 year old blonde of Swedish fare. I don't really remember much of it and haven't seen it since.

It's ok though, I was 16 too.

I will show it to my 7 year old this year, but need to explain things before so I don't get questions:

There were no cell phones to call or text
There was no internet
There was no airport security to speak of
There was no electronic tracking of boarding passengers / who was missing

But will still be prepared for questions:
I don't know why the parents didn't call the local police to come pick Kevin up
I don't know why the parents didn't have a single family to call -- during the holidays when everyone is off -- to come get Kevin and keep him until they got home
I don't know what happened to the spilled milk in the garbage can and why they showed it
The old man probably did see Kevin's whole family leave without him, I don't know why he didn't help

Netflix now has Movies That Made Us

It's just like Toys That Made Us and each episode is about 45-50 min long and goes into the story behind each movie from how it was written, pre production, casting, to filming and everything in between.

One of the episodes is on Home Alone. If you're a fan of the movie I suggest checking it out. It's pretty interesting to hear and see the stories behind the movie.

Without saying too much the best is Pesci complaining that he had trouble reading the script because he wasn't cursing.

They did call the police and an officer went by the house but Kevin didn't answer the door

They did.

I don't know why the parents didn't have a single family to call -- during the holidays when everyone is off -- to come get Kevin and keep him until they got home

They called all the families on their street. Uncle Frank's wife says she got a bunch of answering machines. (Because the phone lines were down.)

I don't know what happened to the spilled milk in the garbage can and why they showed it

They showed it because when they throw away all the milk-soaked napkins, he accidentally throws Kevin's plane ticket in there. (This is something I just noticed in the last few years. Crazy I had never noticed.)

The old man probably did see Kevin's whole family leave without him, I don't know why he didn't help

This is a good question, but the only assumption we can make is he didn't know they were gone. He tells him to run along home when they talk in church.

I noticed that when I was one minute ago years old. I always thought that there would be some really rotten milk smell to be used later in a scene that ended up on the cutting room floor.

Home Alone is one of my all time favorite movies. I just bought a shirt to wear for the holiday season that says, "Look what you did, you little jerk", and also a "Buzz, your girlfriend, woof" shirt.
