The idea here is to turn on people to movies that you really like that didn't have a huge blockbuster opening or get a lot of press. Some good critics in this place, so hearing about their less famous favorites might be interesting. Use your discretion on what you consider to be an undercover movie, but if it is labeled something like a "cult classic" we have probably all heard of it. We want things you like that may not be on the radar.
Here is my list:
1) Ink - $250k budget movie that directly addresses my largest struggle in life, work-life balance.
2) The Fountain - This movie stars Hugh Jackman, but I haven't talked to many that have seen it. It follows a story in three time periods, 1500's, present day and far future (kindof). The cinematography is grand, in that there are common visual elements seen across the timelines. And the theme is also pretty moving. It can get slow, but is is so, so beautiful.
3) Let the Right One In - great, moving, smart thriller / horror (kind of).
4) Brick - This is a 1950's Film Noir flick, but it all takes place in Highschool. Every line is electric, almost poetry.
5) Out of Sight - Ok, this one is likely more popular than the others, but I think that the interaction between Clooney and J-lo is dynamite in this one. If you haven't seen it, good for a watch.
Interested to hear others ideas. Looking for new, cool things to watch. Don't hate on me if you have heard of all of these.
