Love Hamilton. I know nothing about In The Heights, as I don't like to listen to music or know much before seeing the musical (or in this case movie).

Directed by the guy who did Crazy Rich Asians, which I thought was surprisingly excellent.

This is one of the best previews I've seen in a while. Very intrigued.

I'm a little surprised there's nothing for this movie on the first few pages.

I enjoyed it. Very good performances, great production value, and a good story. I watched it on HBO Max because I wasn't sure if I would like it. But it's a big screen type flick, for sure.

I liked the movie, the story, and the characters, but I was disappointed in the score.

None of the songs really distinguished themselves to me and I do not feel that there were any real ear worm songs in it, whereas Hamilton seemed to have like ten.

Wife and I watched it this weekend. The first hour was great. We both almost fell asleep during the second hour because it all felt the same - high energy Cuban music - with no story I really cared about. I thought it should've been about 45 min shorter. I'd give it a 6 or 7 out of 10.

The only part that I thought dragged was Abuela's song. I thought "I know what's gonna happen here. Let's just get on with it."

Had the exact same opinion told people that none of them made me want to go back and listen to them again like Hamilton did.

I still can't believe this is a thing. I absolutely find LMM annoying. But geez is right. Here's a guy makes a great film, personal film and has to put out that response, and somehow make EVERYONE happy. Seems not obtainable.

I saw the musical 10 years ago after it won a ton of awards. I thought it was okay, and didn't expect the film to be that much better.

I respect his work, but he's the type that will cower to his liberal overlords every single time.

Very disappointed in the lack of Afro-Latinx representation. While Jon Chu finally admitted to this, which is obviously a positive step, much more could have been done. Much remains to be done.

I do hope all the "listening" becomes concrete action.

So is this any good? The only buzz around it seems to be about the relative melanin content of the actors.

Which seems like a weird complaint against a guy who's most famous work involved assembling an all African American cast to play a bunch of dead white guys.

There's also no Native American Indigenous representation of Latin American culture anywhere in the film or play.

I think some people really wanted this to be the next La La Land, and it fell short.

It is good

People can think what they want of the politics of Lin-Manuel Miranda but he creates great shows

For the record, Rita Moreno thinks people should leave him alone because he creates shows that showcase minorities

Good point.

The lack of BIPOC representation is really glaring.

Hopefully the filmmakers actually take these lessons to heart.

Sometimes Redstone is amusing and sometimes Redstone is obnoxious. This is obnoxious Redstone, not that he cares.

No, the filmmakers have - justifiably - taken a lot of criticism from the BIPOC community.

Representation and appropriation are serious issues. This should be a learning opportunity.

He's a creator who's outspoken in his desire to create work that showcases underrepresented people and cultures.

It would seem kind of disingenuous to not listen to criticisms of how those people are portrayed in his work.

I thought it was a really good, entertaining movie. I'm surprised it bombed at the box office and I had no idea they kept delaying the release date. I assumed it came out last year.

I agree with everyone else that none of the songs really stuck out to me besides the opening in the heights scene. Although I thought most of the songs were good, not great, but it seemed like there was just too many songs in the movie. Could've taken out a few. Also, it was a pretty damn long movie.
