I saw it twice. IMAX & Dolby Cinema.

Dolby much more comfy. Good audio.

IMAX has off the charts audio. Loved it.

Is IMAX just a sound improvement. I saw it in IMAX and was wondering what exactly i was getting relative to other formats. It always confuses me.

It depends on if it is true IMAX which is mostly just in museums and very few theaters, or "lie-max" which is (essentially) a branding package with the seats positioned closer to a regular screen and upgraded audio.
