This dusted up a couple of years ago, and at the time, someone pointed out that Apu is probably the most admirable character on the whole show. The only negative storyline that I remembered around him was when he couldn't find a wife, but that was mostly mocking the people in Springfield, not him.

But he's voiced by a white guy doing a caricatured accent so it's some kind of -ism that needs to be thrown to the memory hole.

My kiddos used to watch Phineas and Ferb. They stereotyped the Indian kid but so what? It was true to life.

Phineas: Ok Baljeet, what do you do when you're happy?

Baljeet: Math.

Phineas: Hmmmm...ok. So what do you do when you're sad?

Baljeet: Math.

that's some funny sh**. Harmless. And I am of the absolute opinion that this kind of humor across the board is what brings diverse people together.
