Soooo down to eat a lot of popcorn, turn off my plot point detection, and go chasing some faux history with Cage

What are the odds this turns out to be a Disney+ exclusive?

I would keep our Disney+ subscription forever if it meant they kept putting out National Treasure movies.

still better than that Robert Langdon garbage.

They're the same popcorn-munching genre. I can't wait for the crossover.

Trying to recoup some of that Star Wars money! Timing of announcement not an accident!

The alleged holdup to now, beyond the cast costs now that they are all big stars and knew what the first two brought in, was finding a historical plot they could use. Will be interesting to see what they ultimately came up with.
I preach this everywhere because no one seems to know this, but the DOI version signed July 4 1776 was actually lost to history (It's called the fair copy). The one at the archives is from August when everyone got back. Just try and imagine what that would be worth if it actually turned up somewhere. Would be a cool plot point to use.

Oh and completely off topic, but since I brought up the DOI, there were 15 colonies, not 13. Seriously, East and West Florida stayed loyal to Britain, were sold off to Spain, so Florida and Georgia were an international border for nearly a half century.
Amazing how that's not known by nearly anyone either.

Why would they draw the invisible treasure map on the second one? You're messing with the Gates' family history. You're no better than Ed Harris' character in the second one.

The fair copy has been a matter of historical record since at least 1823, and the first movie made it clear which version they wrote it on, so I would ask Bruckheimer that question. Just saying it's a cool real mystery that's out there, one that few know about and could make a neat plot point, that's all.

Here is a story on it.

In the end you learn Nicolas Cage was the national treasure all along

Ben gates starts his son on the treasure seeking way of life. He has to have a kid that is like 9-10 by now. Would be a perfect way to move into a national treasure series.

Same basic idea for Taken 4. Take the grandkid in a child abduction
