Maybe they should stop playing the next episode 3 seconds after the last one ended.

I signed up for a change.org thing once for a local issue and then I get emails all the time from them for a bunch of political issues I don't agree with. But I signed with haste on the Stop Netflix from Autoplaying one.

I think you can turn AutoPlay off in your Account settings.

I wonder if they are getting desperate now that Disney+ is competing with them.

So they should be changing it any day now, huh?

Huge fan. There's a way to make watching TV even lazier? I'm in.

I wouldn't consider Disney+ a direct competitor. They cater to different markets/tastes. Sure there is some overlap, but unless you have kids Disney plus isn't a must have. Heck even if you do have kids, I would still say Netflix has a slight edge because it covers a wider variety of shows and movies without being limited by Disney's family friendly approach.

I would think Hulu is a bigger competitor to Netflix than Disney+

Another way of looking at this is 67% of streams that make it past 2 minutes are finished.

That is pretty impressive.

Netflix is up to their eyeballs in debt. I would not be investing in them right now. I'd be amazed if they are able to turn their situation around. (Not saying it's impossible)

If I had to guess, this change in definition of views is either to make themselves more tempting to sell ads in the future or to somehow fool idiot investors.

Netflix is counting this thread as 60,000 views of call the midwife

As an aside, there are weird standards all throughout media.

In digital advertising, the industry standard for advertisers to count "views" of their banner ads or video ads is the following:

Banner ad: 50% of the ad creative is visible in the browser for a minimum of 1 second

Video ad: 50% of the video ads pixels are visible for at least 2 continuous seconds

It makes my life a beating.
