Home Alone

Loved it as a kid, stood the test of time as I grew up, and now my kid loves it. I've probably legitimately seen it 75-100 times.

Top Gun followed closely by Back to the Future and Vision Quest. All 3 VHS tapes wore out in the 80s. I was around 12 when these movies first came out. I can recall the summer of '86 waking up and my cousins and brother already having one of them going. Just stayed in a constant loop. Nothing better than flying, time travel and wrestling

A couple years ago I rented out a movie screen at the local theater and played Home Alone for my employee's and there kids. Some of the younger ones hadn't seen it and said they really loved the new movie when leaving. They laughed so hard. Timeless for sure.

The Sound of Music, countless times, I'd estimate that I watch it at least 4 times a year.
Home Alone at least once a year since it came out.
Gone with the Wind at least once a year since I was 12-13.

Yep. My dad worked on an oil tanker and had to leave to get back to work on June 15 1977 so he took my brother and I to see it 7 times in 20 days before that. I couldn't keep track of how many time we had gone since u was only 3, so he bought me a little spiral notebook to mark all the times we went. I have kept it updated for 42 years.

Probably Wedding Crashers. We somehow got HBO our last semester at A&M, and Wedding Crashers was just released and probably came on 2-3x a day. Our apartment could quote the movie verbatim by the end of the semester.

This one had me thinking. As near as I can tell it's either "A Christmas Story" because I'll watch that damn movie anytime it's on, 24 hour marathon and all, or "Jurassic Park". I remember watching that everyday at home once it came out on VHS in the 90s and my kids are hooked so we catch a few times a month.

"No thanks, I'm not thirsty."

Bonus points to whoever gets that reference. I've definitely seen that movie a LOT.

I watched Amadeus almost nightly with a college roommate. Loved the music.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail. High school standard fare.

Pink Floyd's The Wall. Countless midnight showings.

Basic Instinct.....had to pause the vhs every time the legs uncrossed to see it.

All honesty I would think mine has to be Top Gun, Raiders, Rocky, or Back to the Future. Since adulthood it is easily Godfather or Lonesome Dove.

I'm 100% sure this is my most watch movie, and for the same reasons. I actually find Frozen pretty tolerable.

Back to the Future seems to be the most mentioned movie.

What is it about this movie that makes it so endlessly rewatchable? I can't really explain it either, but it seems we all feel the same.

Its just a really solid movie an plot. I also think its one of those movies that has inspired and shaped so much in terms of culture.

Hard to say.

But if I had to guess, my top three for viewings are probably:

  • Die Hard
  • Terminator 2
  • Ferris Bueller's Day Off

I watched those movies over and over when I was in college. My roommate worked at a video store, and if a movie or NES game wasn't checked out, he could bring them home for the night, as long as he had them back the next morning. Needless to say my grades improved dramatically once he graduated and left town.

It's a decent comedy that covers two classic eras of pop culture (50s/80s, Huey Lewis / Chuck Berry), and it has the irresistible brain tease of challenging the viewer to understand time travel.

The movie has so many hooks, Jaws couldn't escape that line.
