Just watched it. What a sad movie. Both Shia and the young kid do a great job in it, and by the end you get a real understanding of his life and why he has had the problems he does.
The acting was great, but the movie was a bit slow, fragmented, and really left me wishing it had been given more substance. All of the scenes with the rehab clinic, especially the gal, didn't really lead anywhere.
And there wasn't much resolution other than proving the story was told.
This is why I liked it. Given it's autobiographical nature it would've come off as disingenuous to have some kind of grand resolution. The character is left as a work in progress. Recovering from a childhood like that isn't going to be fully resolved in one rehab stint.
