Not the greatest Sanderson starting point, but a free book is a free book. There are some minorish spoilers in these books for the first Mistborn trilogy.

Warbreaker is also free on his website (in pdf/ebook form I think). That's a decent standalone entry point.

It's ok but I think it's my least favorite work of his.

Lightsong may be my favorite character in the Cosmere.

I've begun my Wax and Wayne(Wayne is pretty high on my list as well) plus Secret History re-read, should be fresh once The Lost Metal comes out.

Sanderson about 12% through Stormlight 5.

Also offering a free eBook for Shadows of Self, for those who haven't read Mistborn era 2.

This all per his most recent YouTube update.

Just listened to Dawnshard, it's officially available on audiobook.

Really cool, always love The Lopen. I feel like him and Wayne have to meet at some point.

That would be epic... and it's entirely possible.

I will say, having just watched the first episode of House of the Dragon, it got me thinking about the eventual Stormlight adaptation. I want to see that so badly, but I am so freaking scared it will suck and just end up another Wheel of Time.

I got to think they do Mistborn first right?

I just think Stormlight is going to be really hard in general, without massively changing things. How you make spren don't just look like cheesy Peter Pan is going to be a huge challenge, imo. Unless you went the animated route, which will limit the amount of people willing to give it a chance.

I would love to see it, just don't know if CGI is there yet

He's already addressed this in one of his interviews during his signings. He said The Final Empire will most likely be a movie, but Stormlight would be a show.

Here is Brandon addressing this exact thing:

He had a very confident comment in their about budgets being offered for bringing Stormlight Archives to life.
I love his books, and anytime he talks about his universe and storytelling in general is great.
He's also talked a lot about scripts, and rights, and this thoughts on both throughout the last decade often.

What a lazy POS. Sanderson needs to learn to write quicker.

So, was watching Brandon's live stream. He was talking about races and such when casting for Stormlight, and thank god, he really is pushing to keep the various cultures racially consistent. He said maybe a little more mixture along borders of countries.

One thing that surprised me was when he discussed casting the Alethi. He was leaning closest to casting Asian Americans as the Alethi. Did anyone else see Asians in their mind when reading the books? I always pictured the Alethi as more middle eastern or indian in skin tone and look. I guess because they always describe the Alethi as taller than the other races of Roshar and darker complected.

Yeah, particularly thought Japanese with the way they described the havahs.

Will be interesting to see the others. Michael Kramer reads the Lopen with an Australian accent, but the way the Herdaz talk is definitely more similar to Mexicans imo.

Yeah... I never got that impression at all, lol. That's going to be very strange when they finally make this show. It will be trippy for a while, until I get used to it.

The fact that they always talk about Shins having big eyes and from the land that sounds the most like earth I always assumed they actually would have average human sized eyes and the Alethi had smaller asian-like eyes.

It's established (via a Sanderson interview) that everyone but the Shin on Roshar have epicanthal folds (Asian eyes). I don't know why I remember this, because I can barely keep the characters straight sometimes.

or I guess more correctly, everyone but the Shin and some worldhoppers

I'm pretty excited for it. If they do it right, it's one of the first real fantasy adaptation where Europeans weren't the main characters in the source material.

The interesting thing to me is who they get to play Wit.

I know it's odd, but I can't help but picture Alan Tudyk every time I see Wit appear.

Sanderson's Live signing and such are always great to keep on in the background. He gives a lot of great nuggets, during those.

That's how it starts, next thing you know it's a decade later and he starts promising dragons and changes his name to George RR Sanderson.

Reminder that between the ashfalls, the inquisitors, the Koloss, Kredik Shaw, Allowmancy, and the Mistborn, the first trilogy is a visual masterpiece ready to be made:

I'm on the 2nd Mistborn book, almost done. Think I'll read the 3rd before this Stormlight novella and RoW.
I read all of Arcanum Unbounded before RoW. Skipped Edgedancer, as I had previously already read that.

I completely missed Dawnshard though. Time to go read that I guess! I must have forgot about Dawnshard after finishing the Mistborn stuff.

Maybe it's my "completionist" like of thought, but for me there's no way I'd read RoW before Dawnshard. I know RoW is anticipated, but I think reading Dawnshard beforehand will make the payoff even better.

Again, that's just me. Do what y'all want!
Lol @ this dolt. He completely blew past Dawnshard after finishing the published Mistborn and Wax & Wayne stuff and went into RoW.

Something I realized a few weeks ago from Reddit is that Sanderson has hinted that the 5th book's initials will probably be KOWT.

So the first 5 books, in proper Vorin fashion, will be TWOK, WOR, O, ROW, KOWT.
