After cable cutting last fall, I selected PS Vue due to the wide array of sports content they offered. Once they announced they'd no longer be a viable platform, I made the switch to YTV for similar reasons (they offered the best sports streaming services).

But today, I just got the following email:

Quote:

Hi there,
Our goal with YouTube TV is to offer you the content you love, delivered the way you want.
To make this happen, we need to enter into deals with our partners. Unfortunately, we have been unable to reach an agreement with Sinclair to continue to carry the FOX Regional Sports Networks and YES Network.

Starting February 29, 2020, you will no longer be able to watch live, on demand, or recorded content from your local FOX Regional Sports Network or YES Network.

Please know that we do not take this decision lightly. We value your membership and will continue to strive to build the best streaming experience possible.

Sincerely,
The YouTube TV team
This is huge for me personally as I'm a fan of the Dallas Mavericks and Fox SSW is the home of their tv broadcast.

Looks like I'll have to switch to Hulu.

Seems like the Fox RSNs are having all kinds of distribution problems.

Yeah, just saw the tweet too. This sucks, and my story's the exact same as you. Just switched over from PSVue. Don't know where else to go now regarding streaming services for FSSW. Any ideas?

I have to think this won't last. Big12 country just lost a bunch of content. Good thing we're SEC, but there a lot of unhappy Big12ers right now.

Pretty much all of Texas sports watchers won't be using YouTubeTV now. That's a big chunk of change I have to think that YoutubeTV is leaving on the table. And since everyone's a free agent it seems like when it comes to TV watching, there's no downside to cancelling or barrier of entry regarding leaving or joining a streaming service.

The Astros, Rockets, Rangers, Stars, Big12, Mavericks, and Spurs are now not available on YoutubeTV. They're about to see a pretty big exodus in the state I have to think.

Dish Network stopped carrying Fox Sports regional channels last year and announced that they basically wouldn't even try to bring them back. I've been using a relative's directv login for the Fox Sports Go app for Mavericks games...not sure what other options are out there.

I've had YouTubetv since fall of 2017 and loved it even through their $15/month price hike. I'll watch every stars and rangers game. Will they be dropping my rate? Doubtful. I'm out.

Me: Wife, we are going to be ditching satellite. It's cheaper and better service.
Wife: OK.

(ONE YEAR LATER)

Me: Wife, we are going to be switching from PSVue.
Wife: But I just figured it out.
Me: It's going away. We don't have a choice.
Wife: ...ok

(2 MONTHS LATER)

Me: Wife, we are going to be switching from Youtube TV.
Wife: ...
Me: They are not going to carry Fox Sports.
Wife: ...
Me: That's what the Mavs are on, so now we are going to use Hulu.
Wife: But I just figured it out.
Me: Last time for sure.

(PROBABLY NEAR FUTURE)

Me: Wife, we are going to have to sign up for satellite.
Wife: (hurls a brick at my head)

Weird...I have AT&T TV and have Fox Sports Regional. Even stranger, I have both the Dallas (where I live) and Oklahoma versions available

A little bit worrisome trend. I've also been annoyed that I haven't had FSN since last summer on Dish.

For us, YTTV is perfect because I can get all the ESPN's and SECN without an additional package fee to watch the Ags. That's all I have time for these days. YTTV has been outstanding in terms of the interface, dvr, app, and picture quality.

But it's hard to find a one-stop-shop if you watch every multiple pro sports...or watch bdf games.

Hulu pretty much has it all.

ESPN/SECN for A&M, FSSW for Stars, Fox and NBC for soccer, typical NFL schedule on regular networks, golf if you're desperate, Olympics channel for track & field/marathons. Only thing I don't get is my Astros and thats because I'm in DFW.

I switched to YTTV close to a year ago and prior to that I had DirecTV here in CS and it would almost always blackout Stars and Mavs games on FSSW.

Won't be switching though. Can just easily stream any of those games on reddit.

I had PS Vue for 3 years for the exact same reasons. I loved their sports package. We switched to Hulu at Christmas and have been very satisfied.

Usually bufferstream on reddit and just HDMI from laptop to tv but there are a number of users I've found quality HD streams for on certain games I don't get.

I just google reddit and the sport I'm looking for and have never had any problems finding something if not available on Direct or YTTV.

You wouldn't get Astros games in Houston with Hulu either. AT&T TV and FuboTV are the only in market streaming options.

Well, and r/mlbstreams.

In Houston we still get all of the Rangers games on FSSW. All of Texas is the home market for both the Astros and Rangers. I can see why no provider in DFW would pickup AT&T Sports Houston. I find it a bit odd that Comcast in Houston still has FSSW unless its a carryover from a long term deal back when the Astros and Rockets were on there.

Astros and Rockets have been on AT&T Sports Net (or whatever it is this week) for a while now, so it's actually been tough to get them on most providers unfortunately.

Sounds like the same reasons we have it. I'll watch practically any football game on YTTV during the season, and then cancel it after the Super Bowl. Between Amazon Prime and Netflix we can find something else to watch the rest of the year, and it being $54/month now is just not worth it for as little as we watch it outside of football season.
