Watched it last night and enjoyed. Not the best movie ever but it was ok. Kind of predictable in my opinion.

From Robert Urich and Avery Brooks to this....sad.

He's also remaking the 6 Million Dollar Man. That's disappointing to hear.

Let me guess. Having not seen the trailer I'd have to say he's playing some tough south Boston type who is out to right a wrong or get revenge for some ill that befell him or his family.

I have read all the Spenser books, and this trailer is a flat out injustice to Robert B. Parker's legacy. I don't see how his family signed off on this movie.

Watched it yesterday, y'all are too kind, this movie was bad. Felt like they gave Wahlberg $25MM for a couple weeks of work and that was the only goal, get him in a Netflix movie, the quality of the movie itself be damned. If you want to watch him as a cop I recommend you watch him in The Other Guys, also on Netflix, highly underrated comedy. Some of Michael Keaton's finest work.

I'm a big Robert Parker fan and a big Wahlberg fan. I'm excited to watch this. I'm going in knowing this a *******ization of a great series, but it's Mark Wahlberg doing the deed. I'm curious how this will play out for me.

I enjoyed it, but I never read the books. And I had a good laugh at Mark Wahlberg's self referential line "he is a throwback Irish mob before all those shty movies"

I mean... it's not The Godfather. It's a run of the mill Pete Berg/Mark Wahlberg movie. If you like those, it is fine.

I'm rewatching the originals on Amazon Prime(free with commercials), and you're so right. Robert Urich only lost one fight, to a character played by Gerry Cooney. Avery Brooks dominates every scene including one where he has Samuel L Jackson up against a wall reading him the riot act.

I knew the plot was absurd as soon as he walked out of prison and ran away from his smoking hot girlfriend rather than pound out his years of prison frustration on her. I dont care how crazy or annoying she is there is zero chance that wouldn't be my first task after release

Somebody (not Berg or Wahlberg) needs to make the Travis McGee novels into a Netflix or HBO series. Those could be epic.
