Dave makes me feel like I don't love my friends enough...or at least I don't show it.
I don't care how much I love my friends, they're not putting their balls on my face.

Yeah I just don't get the complaints. It feels like the exact same show to me, just Dave is struggling personally.
Although yes, the last episode was really pushing the envelope, but dammit if I wasn't laughing while feeling extremely uncomfortable
Dave cant carry the series.TresPuertas said:
yeah. in the middle of Episode 3 and had to stop and come here and catch up on the thread before i finished.
to call this "strange" would be the understatement of the year. WTF is going on?

Season 1 was so good because it was an ensemble cast. Dave, GaTa, Mike, Els, Ally...a lot of the funny banter was with everyone involved. "It's a milking table, and we aren't happy about it."
Now the series is more Dave-centric and its becoming pretty obvious that it doesn't work as well as it did with the whole gang. And it's not even a "dave is getting too big for his britches" type character arc, because at this point he doesnt even have an album together yet. It's just Dave Burd thinking too hard about his series, just like his "character" does about everything and trying to hard instead of going with what works -- the entire KAJ episode was proof of this. Trying way too hard to be meta or self-reflective.
Dave isnt as smart as he thinks he is, unfortunately.
Fair point, but the League would have also sucked if they took out most of the other characters and just focused on Pete for any period of time, either (1-5 episodes). This show was great because of the ensemble cast. Criticism stands, but I'll redirect the failure to Schaefer.Kevin the 3-legged dog said:BadMoonRisin said:Dave cant carry the series.TresPuertas said:

This would be valid criticism if he were the main writer and show runner. He's not. It's Jeff Schaefer who has run a comedy show may have liked, The League.
I guess I agree with you. The first season was different. It was a comedy show. It made me laugh. It had jokes in it.TresPuertas said:
to say this season has gotten worse would be a bit unfair. it's just different.
i think we can all agree that the apex of last season was the Gata episode and it was so good because it was so surprisingly heartfelt.
it's pretty clear by the Kareem episode that this season is about narcissism and the Korea episode really showed that. i was fine with this season until the first 1/2 of episode 3. all that weird stuff seemed REALLY unnecessary. it's hard to shock me usually, and i wasn't really offended by it, im just having a tough time understanding why it was necessary.

He has writing credits for every episode made so far.Kevin the 3-legged dog said:BadMoonRisin said:Fair point, but the League would have also sucked if they took out most of the other characters and just focused on Pete for any period of time, either (1-5 episodes). Dave wrote Bar Mitzvah. It was really good. More like last season.

I'll get back to you millionaires with cable tonight, as I have to watch on Hulu next day.

This was the first episode of the season that I loved. Thought it was great. It didn't have much humor but loved it from start to finish.

Christine Ko is an effing knockout.
All y'all go gaga for the chick that plays Ally/Ali but Ko blows her away. I don't even have a thing for Asians, she's just so damn hot.
