I'm watching this movie for the first time in many many years. I forget how much I enjoy the story.

Is this a courting or a donnybrook? Have the good manners not to hit the man until he's your husband and entitled to hit you back.

John Ford with two of his best actors in John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara but Victor McLaglen drives that flick and was nominated for an Oscar because if it . Not bad for a palooka turned actor . Love it , such a beautiful , poignant yet silly at times movie .My sophomore high school English teacher made us watch it many long years ago. I thank him for it albeit much of its themes were lost on my teenage boy coolness at the time.

We watched it last night as well and enjoyed it thoroughly as always. My wife and I took a trip to Ireland in 2006 and we stopped in Cong, County Mayo where much of the movie was filmed. We always enjoy watching the movie and getting to say "we were right there".
