If you link Creed or Puddle of Muddle with "grunge" (cringe) music, you are ignorant.
I didn't link them. You seem to think they were. Outside of vocal comparisons of stapp and vedder, 2000s rock was always just hard rock... maybe Post grunge.... but that's not saying it's like grunge, just that it came after. It's all rock. Puddle of mud is no less linked to grunge then grunge is linked to classic rock.
It certainly wasn't a modern 80s party rock like YOU said.
Gotcha. I didn't mean "you", specifically, but i was on a high horse, my bad.
I do view Seattle bands of that era like Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam much closer to the great American and UK bands from the 60s and 70s compared to any of these more modern hard rock bands. Even Nirvana with all their overblown hype and lesser known ones like Screaming Trees and Candlebox made much more compelling music. STP had a great run as well and seem to get lumped in with the others. Nostalgia bias is probably a factor, but I think rock radio jumped off the cliff around the new millenium with a few exceptions. Even Linkin Park gets recognized as truly great which blows my mind.
