Wife and I watched this on Netflix over the last two days. Great acting job by Taylor Kitsch (Tim Riggins from FNL) and overall just a very well done drama series. I was in college when this happened at A&M so I knew a bit about it but, like most college students, I was not watching the daily news at all!

I also learned a bit about Ruby Ridge which I never really knew much about.

Highly recommend the watch!

Just finished it. Wow. Really infuriating how ATF and FBI handled the situation. If the series is accurate, what a black eye for the US law enforcement.

Great series. My grandfather c/o 58', was risk manager for city and grandmother worked for one of the city's ironically named Mount Carmel water treatment plants at the time. Both have some interesting stories from when it was going on.

If you visit the compound, you can go in the new chapel. On the wall opposite the Trump flags and that "Hillary for prison" banner, they have a bunch of the ATF trophy pictures from the trail. They are pretty disgusting and I can certainly see why they turned a pedophile cult leader into a sympathetic victim.

Not to nitpick but Koresh was not a pedo. Pedos are sexually attracted to pre-pubescent children. Koresh "married" several sexually mature teenage girls that were part of his cult. This sexual attraction to sexually mature underage people is also semi common among high school teachers and coaches and totally ok if you're a character on Desperate Housewives.

I'm glad Koresh is dead. He got a lot of mostly innocent people killed. If our govt had any integrity they would have simply arrested him outside of the compound then peacefully served their warrant without bloodshed.

One other thing about the Davidians and that era and I say this as a conservative. The rise of modern jackboot federal law enforcement began to peak during the Bush 41 administration. The vast majority of agents and officers in decision making roles were already in place when Clinton was elected. I only throw that out as a reminder that the desire for power and control should always be questioned regardless of the R or D next to the name.

I believe it's called ephebophilia, post puberty attraction. Our culture says it's wrong because we made 18 the line for adulthood. Plenty of other cultures that have that line earlier.


Hell america was enthralled in a series who's culture celebrated teenage brides (GOTs). Once a girl is "blooded" she is an adult.

I watch the Ruby Ridge documentary last Saturday I think it's on Amazon prime, and this week and I'm watching this documentary since I read the thread. The Ruby Ridge documentary is ridiculous, as is this one definitely worth watching

Watched Ruby Ridge this morning. Did it in the reverse order that you're doing it.

Watching Waco made me want to watch Ruby Ridge.

It is on Amazon Prime, but I had to pay to rent it.
