Chuck Berry Johnny B Goode 1958

Black Sabbath War Pigs 1970

I can't imagine being sixteen in 1958 and falling in love with Chuck Berry's guitar playing and then being in my late 20s and trying to understand where rock had gone in just a little over decade to War Pigs. I love both songs but that is just a huge amount of change in almost no time.

Along those same lines, Love Me Do and Please Please Me came only three years and a few months before Tomorrow Never Knows. Definitely an incredible time for music.

And yet we had pretty decent rock in the 90s and 00s, but its basically non-existent today. Everything is pop auto-tune garbage.

Not true. You're just not looking in the right places.

It's not just music either. The 50s, 60s, and 70s had huge swings in fashion styles, car designs, entertainment, etc. By comparison, we're incredibly stagnant today. The Toyota Sequoia I drive today hasn't changed in over a decade.

Crazy to believe it only took 12 years for rock and roll to go from family friendly songs to full blown Satan worship.

Jesus wept.

Imagine where we'd be if this guy hadn't tipped off Chuck's brother Marvin to this new sound. He actually went a little heavier but they weren't ready for that yet. Their kids loved it though.

I wonder if people use to complain about the lack of improvement in the horse and buggy with no changes over hundreds of years.

It compares our troops and military leaders to witches. Our nation is the most Holy nation on Earth. This our troops are God's army. If calling God's army witches isn't the work of Satan I don't know what is.

Gen'rals gathered in their masses,
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction,
Sorcerer of death's construction
In the fields the bodies burning,
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind,
Poisoning their brainwashed minds
Oh Lord yeah

Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role for the poor, yeah

Time will tell on their power minds,
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess,
Wait 'till their judgement day comes, yeah

Now in darkness world stops turning,
Ashes where the bodies burning
No more War Pigs have the power,
Hand of God has struck the hour
Day of judgement, God is calling
On their knees the war pigs crawling,
Begging mercies for their sins
Satan, laughing, spreads his wings
Oh Lord yeah

Ohhhh Kayyyy sport.

Also how do you know the song was pointed specifically at US troops when the guys performing the song are brits?

Other than saying the poor are sent off to fight as a criticism, how do you know its the American poor, and where do they specifically say these troops are in league with Satan?

Not sure why my comment would get your dander up. My comment wasn't a complaint. Just an observation on something I find interesting. In many ways, our lives today are so much faster, particularly the distribution of information. Yet, fashions and styles-something that you would think would keep pace with the dissemination of informationhaven't. If anything, they've gotten much slower.

There's plenty of rock today. But rock doesn't top the charts anymore like in the 90's. The really good stuff doesn't really see any mass marketing. So I don't blame you for not knowing about it. You pretty much have to look for it.

Marvin was Chuck's cousin. If you're gonna try to show off your rock history knowledge, at least get your facts straight.

Just as crazy that the same band went from "Love Me Do" to "I am the Walrus" in just five years. Drugs are crazy.
