Just finished this. I enjoyed it. Flavors of Taken, Man on Fire, John Wick, Transporter.

About a drug lord's son that is kidnapped and Chris Hemsworth takes the job to extract the boy from his captors.

I wouldn't have been angry seeing this as a matinee at the theater. I think if you enjoy violent action movies with a protagonist on the run and hounded by enemies from every direction, I think this is worth your time. And, where else have you got to go?

I just got done. Had really low expectations and figured it would be 6 Underground part 2... but damn that was badass. Some of the best action scenes I've ever seen on film. Everything from the initial extraction to the car chase was absolutely wild.

Loved it

Didn't know that was out already, I'll be watching it tomorrow.

We'll maybe not tomorrow. Westworld and two episodes of The Last Dance will be first.

Yeah definitely a different class than six underground. Somebody actually cared about this movie when they were making it.

I enjoyed this one. It's an upper tier Netflix movie for sure, even if I had to watch with subtitles on for the whole movie and it was mostly "[grunts]."

Some very well done action sequences. The plot was decent but the action made up for it.

Well done Russo bros

Agreed. Its top tier Netflix. The action scenes were really well filmed (I believe I read the director is the stunt coordinator from the Marvel movies), and the car chase scene near the beginning of the movie where it's all stitched together to seem like one endless shot is just flat out amazing. My son and I were watching that with wide eyes and our mouths open.

I liked the action. But whoever mixed the sound should have been fired. I couldn't hear a single thing the Indian kid said without turning up the volume to the point where a gunshot actually sounded like a gunshot.

Excellent. Did not know of this. Will watch.

Did watch 6 Underground on my own without any knowledge prior and turned it off halfway through. That movie sucked.

The subtitles definitely came on a couple times while I was watching it.

Watched it last night, plot sucked and some of it didn't really make sense but the action scenes are some of the best I've seen on film. The 11:30 "uncut" at the beginning was legit.

I'm assuming left open for interpretation or possibility of sequels?

I wish they had developed the plot a bit more. The action scenes were great and you can tell the Director started out as a stunt man but it could have used better story development. Good movie for Netflix though since I didnt have to pay extra for it.

Did a virtual watch with a few friends and we were debating the same thing.

My overall reaction: damn.

That was pretty much "let's get Hemsworth to f some dudes up"...but it was pretty awesome. A little light on plot but definitely fun to watch if you're into hyperviolent action flicks.

Read an interview from the director and CH that they filmed several endings and they decided to go with the purposely ambiguous one. They felt that the viewer should decide.

Good info, thanks.

It also conveniently provides for, "if they want a sequel..."

I get a kick out of seeing actors from other things on Netflix pop up in movies and other shows than the thing they are most known for.

I have wondered if part of the deal when you sign with Netflix is that you have to also agree to be in something else they will create.

End was perfectly set up for a sequel: Ambiguous possible death, falling into water from high like at the beginning of the movie and of course, the scar face guy who shot him is still around.

Re: a sequel. Remember the kid's quote. "You don't drown by falling into a river. You drown by allowing yourself to stay submerged." Too much symbolism on the bridge for one movie to be the end.

Great movie. Loved the action and didn't mind the shallow plot. There isn't always a need for super complicated plot lines with huge backstories. Sometimes it's great when a badass mercenary just needs to get a kid back from the bad guys and kicks a lot of ass on the way.

Quick spoiler question

Who shot the drug dealer at the end? The female merc? Or the wife of the other main guy who was killed on the bridge?

I think with the popularity of this they are going to want a sequel, and I couldn't want that to happen more. Sure, it was predictable and a bit contrived, but let's not kid ourselves, this movie isn't exactly Oscar worthy.

There is a lot they can do with this IP and I'll watch them all. It keeps open the possibility of a John Wick/Bourne type series

Movie was crazy stupid (in body count) but fun as hell. Hemsworth is f'n awesome in pretty much anything he does.

I think my favorite part was when he kicked the sh** out of the hood rats. Gonna beat your little asses silly but stop short of killing of you. Seeing the little turds fly through the air was hilarious.

Watch it again. It will make more sense.

Plot wise I get it but not near as much as John Wick 1. "Bad guys kill my dog. I kill all of them back with extreme prejudice". That one I get 100% and it's my favorite plot of every movie made.

Being a drug lord's kid devalues a child's life exactly as much as being a famous person's kid increases its value, zero. This is about saving a kid caught between warring groups.

That being said, they greased a LOT of cops in this movie. Most of them were probably just regular dudes who weren't in on the corruption. That just puts all those innocent deaths on the bad guy.
