I watched an episode of The Heights, a little known 90s series about a band. I also watched the ones you know - Seinfeld, Friends, the entire Frazier series. What a strange decade of tv. The last decade before "the internet" and streaming, no effect from 9/11, heyday of the Simpsons, one season of Freaks and Geeks.... yep, pretty harmless stuff, for the most part. I would describe it as post-80s meets pre 2000s.

Trivia softball- It's a Wednesday night, circa 1993 -1994. Which two shows were we watching back to back?

1993, no, but 1994 I'm pretty sure friends and Frasier were back to back?

My wife got into friends because of her love of frasier. she vcr'd frasier since she worked when it came on, and always saw the first minute or two of friends after frasier, and ended up watching it based on a few snippets.

I was wondering if anyone would catch that.

** The answer to the trivia question is: Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place.

Unless you're a woman, you should not have been watching either of those shows.

My buddy and I would watch Melrose ahead of MNF....the unintentional comedy factor on that show was sky high. Have a couple beers and laugh our asses off at them trying to be so serious.

Use to love watching the Wonder Years and Doggie Howser as a kid. Later as a teen it was Seinfeld.

It's kind of interesting to go through the tv schedules from over the years. Looking back, I watched at least one thing almost every night as an 8-15 year old (what else was there to do on school nights at the time). Now, I don't watch a single thing on network tv.

That's right. The Heights starred Jamie Somethingorother, who sang that song. Before that, he played an abusive boyfriend on 90210 if I remember correctly.

I really liked the Wonder Years at the time, but go back and watch and see how much of a hothead a-hole Kevin was. Good lord!

Clicking through these listings, we were definitely an ABC family. You kind of had to commit back then and set your VCR to record anything you were missing.

Roseanne is on Amazon Prime and the show still really holds up.

We got addicted to 90210 and Melrose as a preparty activity before going to the tap on Wednesdays. We were in our later years of college and had been roommates for years, so the freshness of drinking with new friends was long over. We just needed something to bide the time as we caught a buzz and waited until 10 or 11 pm to go out. I can't believe I just typed that. Seems like I'm talking about someone else, definitely not 48 year old Philo B 83.

But that's the way it was.

We've been rewatching on Disney+. The first few season really hold up. They ratchet up the drama in 6 and 7 and it can be cringe worthy at times.

i was 19-20 in 93-94. I looked at that list and saw I was watching MNF, Seinfeld, and the Simpson. Too much fun stuff to do to be sitting in front of the TV every night.

I agree, but think back. What did Denim and Diamonds, the Chicken, or Bullwinkles look like at 8:00 on any given night? They looked like there gonna look on May 1, 2020.

I know it's off topic, but someone mentioned a specific night for TV shows and I thought back to the 80's and Thursday night.
Cosby, Family Ties, Cheers, Night Court and Hill Street Blues was the NBC Thursday night lineup.
And that was up against Magnum PI, Simon and Simon and Knot's Landing on CBS.

Amazing the difference in network Tv then to now.

I'm such a 90210 nerd that I remember the 93-94 season was the gang's freshman year at California University and Shannon Doherty's final season.

Sportscenter was at its best then. Pure sports coverage with limited opinion shows.

My favorite was Sports Night. Though it tailed off at the end, the first 10-15 episodes were truly awesome for sports fans. The jokes are still funny today and the cast was nails.
