Omar is based on a real person. He robbed drug dealers in Baltimore during the 80's and lived to tell about it. The scene where he jumped off of the 4th story of a building to get away is also based on a real event.


I'm not sure if he was as demonstrative as he is made out to be in the show, but they had prices on his head in real life and he still kept stealing their stuff.
