I had mixed feelings about the movie.

Using the same actors to play themselves during the war was just ridiculous. It was very obvious they were old men! If this was some sort of artistic choice, I'd still say it wasn't a good one.

Delroy Lindo's character wore me the F out. PTSD + rubbing people's noses in MAGA when you're the foreigner = horrible to watch.

Delroy Lindo gives an amazing powerful performance and his role should be up there in the spike Lee pantheon of characters. Give him the Oscar nomination. Great movie. I'm putting this on a tier of 2nd tier historical spike lee movies I enjoyed along with summer of Sam and 25th hour

I don't like any Rage Against the Machine songs, and I don't get your point. Spike Lee has some good movies, and they aren't all excessively political. Some are. I don't care for the ones that beat you over the head with how evil white people are. It's not that complicated.

I don't like any Rage Against the Machine songs, and I don't get your point. Spike Lee has some good movies, and they aren't all excessively political. Some are. I don't care for the ones that beat you over the head with how evil white people are. It's not that complicated.
Inside Man is probably my favorite heist movie of all time. no politics in it outside of hating real genuine Nazis.

Delroy Lindo was incredible in this movie and worth the 2.5hr run time. He owned every scene he was in. Very impressive performance

I'm thinking that Spike Lee chose to portray them as 70+ year old men in the flashback scenes because in their minds, they never really left the Vietnam war. When they remember things from the past, they're re-living those moments as the 70 year old men they are now. Not the 20 somethings they were in the 1960's.

Delroy gave a great performance but good grief I wanted his character dead. He wore me out.

Overall it had some good moments but there were many more moments I would laugh and say out loud "this is bad".

I understand what Spike was going for but it was just very poorly done. The dialog was laughable at times, the plot as well. The death of the car salesman hung forever! He held the shot way too long when we knew what was coming.

It was also very disjointed, connecting dots that seem strained at best.

Overall not a fan. Some good performances saved a bit but not by much.
