If you're making a movie, can't you just create the scene you want? And then you can get exactly what you need.

It's based on a true story, so I want to be as real and accurate as I can, where I can. I don't want to just invent a movie out of thin air that wasn't a real movie. Also, the scene it sets up for later is a crucial scene I don't want to change, that works perfectly as-is. I'm just looking to set it up a bit better is all.

About 4:37 in this clip..Sinatra was awesome in this

Yes, sir! This could totally work! I was hoping for something slightly more dramatic/serious - more of a "moment" when extends his hand - but this is spot on otherwise and will totally do the trick. Thank you!

Not a drive in but on a barge. Roman Holiday, 1953.

Not bad. That could potentially work. And sorry, I should have been more clear. The scene in my script takes place at a drive-in, but the scene they're watching on the drive-in screen can take place anywhere.

Probably not what you're looking for, but was the first thought that popped into my head. 1953's War of the Worlds.

Yeah, that doesn't *quite* work, but now I want to watch the whole movie. I've never seen the original.

Gotcha. I've been watching a lot of movies lately on TCM. My wife thinks I'm crazy but these old movies great. I really enjoyed Gregory Peck in Roman Holiday.

Nice. I really need to watch more. My movie knowledge pre-'70s is definitely lacking.

He won Best Actor for that role too... but yes. It's questionable at best these days, like the white guy they got to play the titular role in Dr. No.

I think others have presented a lot of better options, good luck. Let us know when we can all help write the next great Hollywood project together.

One of the reasons I already like HBO Max a lot, it gives me the opportunity to dive into a ton of classics in the TCM section.

There's a nightclub scene in Pillow Talk with dancing -- released October 1959 and was a big time movie.

That one was a staple for me growing up. The original Independence Day. I didn't care that much for Spielberg's take on the story. The book by HG Wells is a good read, as well.

Not quite what you are looking for but there is a dance sequence between Grace Kelly and Frank Sinatra in High Society

Maybe closer to what you looking from the same movie, Gracie and Bing Crosby

Another scene from Roman Holiday that might work, not really a dance but sort of a dance sequence

How about this scene from War and Peace? 1956

Or this scene from Picnic? 1955. Start at about the 3:05 mark. It's not quite what you want but the emotion is there.

5 years too, late, which doesn't really help. Sound of Music.
