Anybody had a thread on this yet?

Almost finished it. Takes about an episode to ramp up, but it is hilarious. Self described as an "occasionally true story," it's about Catherine The Great's rise to power in Russia.

The emperor is the highlight of the show, but how all the Russian court acts is hysterical.

My wife and I finished this last night. Really good first season. The last episode in particular had me tensed up and on the edge of my seat.

This sort of fills the Veep shape hole in my life, like Death of Stalin meets The Crown or something, but with minimal historical accuracy.

Started this one last night, definitely feels like it's The Favourite meets The Death of Stalin. I just love when anyone says something ludicrous so matter-of-factly, and this show is full of that. The sequence with Catherine explaining her expectation for the wedding night vs reality had me rolling.

Took me a while to figure out the Emperor is the dorky kid from About a Boy

And Nux from Mad Max Fury Road.

Last two posts have blown my mind

I'm 4 eps into this show and it appears it got completely slept on. This show is fantastic. One of the best and funniest things I've seen all year. I really enjoyed The Favourite, but this is definitely a more fun version of that.

Nicholas Hoult absolutely kills me in this. Everything out of his mouth is hilarious. Cannot recommend this show enough. Also, Hulu is killing it.

Finally watched the pilot, at Sex Panther's urging, and yeah, I'm all in. It's so good, and so funny, and such a great hook leading into the rest of the season. I'm disappointed in myself for not checking it out sooner, after all the praise I've heard. But fixing that now, and so glad I am. Thanks, SP.

The scene which shows why Mariel's father got the family kicked out of court is the hardest I've laughed all year.

And the episode with the King of Sweden is amazing. ****ing hysterical

I don't think I've ever seen a show that is A) THIS damn funny, that B) ALSO kept me on the edge of my seat throughout its duration. It's a combination I didn't even know was possible. Especially in this episode - the season one finale - which made me feel just about every emotion I'm capable of feeling. I know I'm not saying anything that hasn't already been said in this thread, but holy crap, what a thrilling and masterful achievement.

I seriously think this one of the top five seasons of television I've ever seen.

I know it's garnered a lot of praise, but I still don't think people are talking about it nearly enough. The writing, the production design, the performances... it's all just incredible. Elle Fanning has always been considered a great actress, and while I've liked her in what I've seen of her, I've never really thought of her as anything special. But now? I completely get it. Because she's amazing in this. It's Nicholas Hoult who steals the show for me, though. He's so, so good, and so, so funny here. Just a pitch-perfect assh*le, who somehow becomes more complicated and likable the more he continues to reinforce his assh*le-ness. To the point where that final scene between him and Fanning was so mind-blowingly electric that I found myself rooting for all outcomes at once. Nine-and-a-half episodes intricately built to that very moment, and it delivered and then some.

I absolutely cannot wait for season two.

I can't remember if there was a season 2 thread and I can't find it, so I'll just bump this one...

Just finished Season 3, and I think the show is as funny as ever. I loved the addition of the new military commander and Maxim.

Peter dying was a pretty big head-scratcher. I love this show, but no Peter for season 4 will definitely ruin a lot of the magic. He's one of the funniest characters ever... I guess there is a chance he's not really dead??? But it sounds like this is somewhat historically accurate, and that definitely felt pretty final.

I wonder if Nicholas Hoult just can't commit to the show anymore. He's blowing up and it's only a matter of time before he gets a big movie franchise - maybe Superman.
