Definitely some creative liberties taken, no doubt. But I loved how this film got into the aspect of that war being "neighbor against neighbor". That it wasn't "fought on some distant battlefield or the frontier". I'm not sure how many people realized that about the Revolutionary War.
That's what I loved so much about Turn, it was more historically accurate but went even deeper into the war truly being fought among communities throughout the Colonies.
Some really good acting in The Patriot as well.
I lived in South Carolina for a time growing up, back when they actually taught history in school, and learning about how Francis Marion fought the British in the swamps. I really enjoyed that aspect of the film, along with the Charleston references.
