Started with the UFO episode. Those always creeped me out when I would watch them as a 9ish year old. The music is unsettling in a way.

New episodes on netlfix. It's one story per 40-50 min episode. No narrator.

I believe they are all new. Its a brand new production, not old replays of the original show .

Some of these episodes aren't much of a mystery. Just people that got away with their crime.

I think part of that is just nostalgia. I remember staying up late on the weekends as a kid watching these episodes and hiding under the covers after.

I'm two episodes in so far and I think:

Ep1

it was a mob hit

Ep 2

the husband did it

Episode 2. The husband has some serious letting go issues. How he acted with the ashes was creepy and also showed his jealousy side.

Episode 1. I listened to a podcast on that case. I want to know where he was thrown from? The roof seemed like to far of a distance.

I think the husband is just weird, I don't think he did it.

From the pictures it was the ledge and he jumped

Initial thoughts 2episodes in from someone who loved the original with Stack, and also enjoyed the Farina episodes too.

1) I prefer the 3-4 short stories told in an hour rather than 1. How is this show any different than many Invesigation Discovery or A&E shows?

2) I am ok with no narration because they recognized Stacks greatness and how hard it was to match that voice. Stacks voice was a big part of why the original resonates so much as scary tv.

3) Love the homage to Stack in the opening credits with his shadow. Yes, creepy AF but well done.

4) I have little doubt the friend/business partner had a hand in Riveras death. Too many mysterious connections.

But how did he go through a condo without anyone noticing, and why would the mob (if that's who it was) not just go to the top of the roof?

Maybe the killers owned a condo

I like that they kept the same music...did not care for the French episode...but a solid B effort...

PS: Rey did NOT jump...Usain Bolt could not generate that arc...

Just watched the French episode. I liked it. Xaviers whereabouts truly are a mystery. If you just watch the show i lean suicide. But if you read up a bit more it seems more than plausible he got away. There was supposedly a letter from him in recent years too.

The ledge? A condo unit? They brushed on it but can't prove definitively that those were impossible. The ledge had plenty of room walk.

I still don't understand how his friend/boss has gotten away from being questioned and investigated more thoroughly.

watch the wire and you'll understand. Bpd would rather investigate as a suicide than a tough to solve murder.

My opinions on each case:

1. Rey Rivera clearly had a psychotic break and committed suicide, there is really no other scenario that makes significant sense. No one is going to drag someone to the top of a popular hotel, and then climb onto a ledge and throw that person off. The note he left behind is pretty clear evidence of his psychotic mental state with its flight of ideas, along w/ bizarrely cutting it and wrapping it in plastic and taping it to his computer. Also, it references the movie "The Game", which he is apparently obsessed with. At the end of that movie, Michael Douglas jumps off a building to commit suicide only to fall onto a inflatable mat then realizing it had all been an elaborate game.

2. I have two running theories in my head, both plausible, although I think the husband being involved is probably the most plausible. The less plausible theory is that this was just a random robbery/kidnapping/murder. The more likely theory is that the husband hired someone to kidnap and murder his wife and make it look like a robbery. Evidence to this theory includes the fact that she had just handed him divorce papers and he immediately changed the locks on his house and refused to let her son back in the house indicating that he had no expectation of her ever returning and demonstrates just how heartless he is. There is also the fact that he never bought an urn for her ashes. He also has a criminology degree.

3. There is no mystery in this one whatsoever, Xavier pretty clearly killed himself.

4. This is the only one that I think is a legitimate mystery where I have no clue what happened. I have a couple theories though. One is that he got absolutely s***faced, he was clearly already very drunk based on the friend's descriptions of him prior to leaving. He then took off his shoes while walking home for some drunken reason and fell in the creek and drowned. For anyone that takes care of drunks frequently or has ever been that wasted before, you know that people do weird stuff when they are wasted including taking off clothes, trying to walk home despite being miles away from home, or numerous other things that make no sense to a sober person. I honestly think this is the most plausible given the lack of physical evidence to suggest that Alonzo was severely beaten (no nasal bone, jaw, rib, or skull fractures). The other possibility is that he actually was beaten to death. People can develop life threatening intracranial bleeds from trauma without skull fractures. I've seen it numerous times.

5. Lol, skipped most of this ridiculous episode.

6. There is 0 mystery to this episode, Sandy is clearly a psycho.

Halfway through 13 minutes --

The husband is an absolute piece of ****, regardless of whether or not he did it.

Locking your 15-year-old stepson out of the house the day after his mom goes missing without so much as some money or a place to go?

Who does that? **** him.

For episode 1, what are your basing your "psychotic break" theory on? I didn't see anything to indicate that but I'm curious to hear from a medical processional.

The note shows pretty classic flight of ideas and tangential thoughts which is very typical of someone in psychosis. He seems to skip from one theme to another without clear reasoning. The way he cut the note is also quite bizarre, as is the fact that he wrapped the note in plastic and then taped it to the computer. These are the type of bizarre things that we often see from people in psychosis.

Finished ep 2. Honestly, I dint understand how this one is still even in question.

The guy who confessed to her murder described how her car was parked. No way he'd know that unless he was there. He might have just lied about throwing her in the river, for whatever reason. But it seems pretty cut and dry. I wish they had told us whether or not he drove a blue car at the time.
Dr. Not Yet Dr. Ag
How long do you want to ignore this user?
That could have been fed to him by police. I don't know how car orientation comes up organically in a confession. More like the police asked him "were your cars oriented like this?" Think Making a Murderer and Brendan's "confession".

For the Alonzo case, there is some interesting stuff online. Evidently everyone in town knows who committed the crime(Boone brothers and a judges son). He was apparently dragged(some say using a dog collar) and then was kept in the freezer of a restaurant about a mile away down the street that was owned by one of the Boone brothers family. He was then moved to the creek when the search initially ended. They became very upset because he was hitting on their sister and are known racist. That is the reason you heard the show make the quick reference to potential freezer storage.

The show didn't do a good job covering a lot of aspects of this case

Of all the episodes - this was the most 'unsolved mystery' between all 6.

On #3, while I do lean that he probably offed himself , I don't think its a foregone conclusion at all. I'd say 67% suicide, 33% fled. He knew there were cameras up where he was last seen walking with the rifle. It could very well have been a show by him to make it look like suicide. Again, I don't think Unsolved does a thorough job on this one either explaining potential get away routes.

4 Episodes in , I like it, but they are certainly leaving a lot of information out on each case especially if you then go online to read further. In fact, I'd go so far as to say they are leaving out crucial information in some cases.
