And one of my favorites times was when ABC Ch. 13 in Houston would have a monster movie week, which typically would end up with The Valley of Gwangi on Thursday and King Kong Versus Godzilla on Friday. They would start at 3:00 PM weekdays, and I would ride my bike home from school as fast as I could to get in on that.

Man, you sort of forget about Roots. EVERYBODY watched that, all ages. I doubt something could be made like that again, not in this climate at least.

the peak of entertainment from 1987. A 5-part GI Joe movie with the greatest opening sequence in entertainment history. When Duke jet packs the flag up to the top of the Statue of Liberty, I dare you not to salute.

Back in 1975 it was groundbreaking. Made fun of soap operas pretty good. At the same time, including a gay character (Billy Crystal was phenomenal). 'Bert' was the 'Kramer' of the '70's. As a 15 y/o, I found it shockingly funny. I have watched a few of the episodes on one of the retro channels....Still makes me chuckle.

Wonderful World of Disney
Can't believe I forgot this. Was a staple in our house every Sunday evening in the early '70s.

Some others that aired once a year and were always must-watch TV:
Santa Claus is Coming to Town
Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Frosty the Snowman

and every March or so one of the local stations would air The Wizard of Oz

Was it not channel 7 on the many iterations of cable companies that came through the area?
