They already remade this movie, it was called Due Date, starring Robert Downey Jr and Zach Galifianakis. To remake a John Hughes film is unacceptable.

It's a family tradition to watch this movie about once a year.

The last time I watched it, I realized that the movie only works because they have no smart phones, Google Maps, Uber, etc.

The situations Steve Martin and John Candy find themselves in simply would not happen today because information is instantly at our fingertips.

Not to mention, traveling is just a whole lot easier and more convenient today (well, at least it was pre-Covid).

I guess you could call it a "remake", but it just wouldn't be anything even remotely like the original. Society and technology have changed too much.

Red Dawn is near the top of my list, just because the plot of the remake is so absurd (not that the plot of the original is great, but it is much more reasonable then the remake).

I think the worst remake is Point Break. The 2015 version didn't have a story and the action scenes weren't worth watching.

Also, the 2014 version of Robocop was terrible.

The original is a science fiction classic with the phrase, "Klaatu barada nikto" even serving as the source for names of characters in Jabba's palace in Return of the Jedi.

They re-imagined the remake to serve their global warming garbage, whereas the original focused on an anti-nuclear idea.
