So, what's the deal with Hulu and Apple+ (and now Prime) releasing episodes in weekly fashion like a traditional TV series? Is it to pique interest without providing pirates the ability to snatch up the whole season in hopes they subscribe? That's really all I can think of other than the ad revenue Hulu gets from its entry level option. Makes it

Anyone know the actual reason for this?

To reduce churn....keeps interested watchers subscribed for consecutive months vs cancelling after a binge weekend.

For those services with ads it also allows the potential for higher spot rates in the tail of seasons if a show starts well. Not usually significant as rates aren't that fluid, but there's a little flexibility.

Makes sense. Oddly, it is so irritating that I look forward to cancelling as opposed to Netflix that I just let run.

Just do the opposite.

Wait until the entire season has run then subscribe for a month and binge it.

What difference does it make. Hell there isn't even water cooler talk at work these days to spolier things.

Thats what I do. I keep Netflix and do the others a month at a time here or there.

Like I waited until the entire Mandalorian was out then binged it.
Same for Cobra Kai seasons and some others.

Ya, I will after football. For now, I am using Hulu for sports this season. Will cancel until Handmaid's comes back.

Really, I'm just pissed that Prime Video is doing this to The Boys.
