They do this on the local talk radio station in Dallas. Just curious to see other responses. Use the same categories and give me your band or musical artist that you:
Hate - Rod Stewart - there are a couple of good ones and I like his stuff from The Faces but most of it beats me down.
Overrated - Aerosmith - anything after '78 sucks, well maybe one or two good ones but I don't like much from them
Under-appreciated - Steve Winwood. Only in the HOF for Traffic. He fronted 3 hugely successful and influential bands Spencer Davis Group, Blind Faith and Traffic, was also a prolific studio session guy and had another huge run of hits as a solo artist. Should be in the HOF twice at least.
Listen to Over and Over - Led Zeppelin doesn't matter when or where and I'll put one of my many LZ playlists on at least once a week while working.
Made me Fall in Love with Music - Earth Wind and Fire - they just hit that period right when I got my first stereo and their I Am album was one of my first purchases at 12 years old. Have always loved their music. Such class acts too.
Changed my Life - Rush - took up drumming right then too in 1978 and another drummer turned me onto them thru 2112 and other stuff after that. Made me love being a drummer and want to emulate Neil Peart.
Surprised Me - ZZ Top - circa 1981 I was on the verge of moving to Texas and a neighbor older teen had tickets to a ZZ Top El Loco concert and invited me along. Was not yet into any blues based rock and did not really know anything older just Tubesnake Boogie and Pearl Necklace from that album. I decided togo since I thought well they are from Texas. Incredible show and I was hooked. Also saw my fist live boobs there with the many girls flashing. That cemented my love for rock and roll.
Guilty Pleasure - Toto - some of it is sappy of course but I don't care
Should Have Seen Live by Now - Bruce Springsteen - I know I should see him at least once I just never have
Great Live Band - Rush - of course just saw them too many times and loved it always
Favorite - Police - just flat out my favorite band of all-time. Intelligent deep lyrics, great music, tight 3 piece band. Perfection.
Honorable Mention - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Such a great band. So many hits spanned so many decades and also great live band.
