I've been a fan of Star Trek for decades. I have always thought that there were so many different characters and events that have appeared in the show that could have been fodder for their own series. I've also been disappointed at how many "loose ends" have been left throughout the varying series'. I had an idea that I thought would be a cool way to explore more of those characters and events and possibly tie up those "loose ends"

Star Trek series idea: "Tapestry". A series of one or two episode Star Trek Universe shows which follow "the rest of the story" or "the backstory" of any one of hundreds of one-off characters or events in the Star Trek Universe. For example: "The Traveler" from Star Trek TNG.

Each show's introduction could be the scene in which the character appeared or the event happened in a previously broadcast Star Trek episode. At the end of the introduction, a theme plays showing credits/actors, etc then as the end of the intro credits comes a shot of the final image of the intro scene is shown, it then transfers into the appearance of a tapestry, the camera closes in on it until it focuses on a single thread, then the camera "passes through" the tapestry to the tangle of multi-colored threads on the backside; follows the identified thread across the backside of the tapestry until it comes back out; the camera "follows" the thread back to the front of the tapestry; then pans out into the initial scene of the new story. The one or two episode show then closes by following the thread back to the backside of the tapestry and fades out.
If done well, this could not only provide current Star Trek fans with long-wanted closure to several "loose ends", it could also spark new interest in the entire Star Trek universe and demand for more replays.

Star Trek: The High School Years, following the crew as they learn to laugh and love in the halls of Star Trek High School. Kirk is captain of the Star Trek Wildcats football team, naturally, and Spock is the nerdy soon-to-be valedictorian. Even though both have full scholarships to Starfleet Academy in hand, they can't help but play mischievous pranks on their grumpy but good-hearted principal Mr. Bones.

That could be a whole series: "The Children of Kirk"

Didn't the Star Trek: Enterprise series turn out to be just the back story to an episode of ST:TNG?

It was a bit more than that; but it did provide answers to some questions about differences between ST-TOS and ST-TNG. e.g. Why Klingons look so different between TOS and TNG.

On the Other hand, it also added many more questions and opened more plot holes in the Star Trek Universe.

I was actually talking about how the Enterprise finale was just a holodeck simulation set during the TNG's "The Pegasus"

I feel like every time Star Trek tries to fill in the gaps things end up even more confusing.

Brunt and Quark, newly political bedfellows who are leading the Ferengi Traditionalist Empire, are on their way to the Gamma Quadrant to solidify a deal for the reclamation of deactivated Borg ships. Then out of nowhere their ship is hit by flying debris...no where near the former Borg empire. Their ship is going down they still dont know what hit them, all they could see via the view screen is the designation "ALL-1". This confuses Brunt and infuriates Quark who is tired of hu-mans ruining everything.

They crashland on a planet. It is hot and deadly to ferengis who prefer moist environments. After trying to hail for civilization they set out on foot. Of course you have the trope where they are nearly dead and then a dark figure, out of focus, picks them up.

Next they are in a cave, surround by lunch boxes and plush toys. You guessed it. Star Trek: The Search for More Latinum

Every Star Trek series should have at least one alien character played by Jeffery Combs.
