My entire plan for teaching my kids the importance of safe sex and the dangers of drugs is to make them watch Kids, Basketball Diaries, and Trainspotting
So here is my thing with Netflix and why the wife and I still remain customers.TCTTS said:
My dad sent a mass text to friends and family today, re: the start of the NFL...

I told him have fun never watching sports again. You live life boycotting every last thing you disagree with, and, just like you said, you're going to end up naked and alone and living off saltine crackers (though I'm sure even Nabisco will eventually manage to piss some people off).
It's why I've never boycotted a single company. I can disagree without sealing myself off in a bubble of agreement. Granted, I *do* think certain companies are obviously worth sending a message to, and again, this whole Cuties thing is objectively abhorrent. But that doesn't mean I'm going to stop watching all of Netflix, and "punish" the thousands of other people at and who have worked for Netflix because of a single bad decision.

I don't think it's much worse than Toddlers and Tiaras or Dance Moms (although I've never seen an episode of either of those, I feel like I get the jist of them).

It's still messed up that they had child actors dancing like that though.Tanya 93 said:
Most of the audience is booing/disturbed by the dance scene.
It is clear they don't approve and that is the point of the movie.
Kids should stay kids and not be hyper sexualized when most of them haven't had their periods yet

it's not just one clip...that's what they want you to believe...it's just one clip. see my earlier post and tell me you think this is ok.aglaohfour said:
That politics thread is a dumpster fire, go figure.
I watched the clip and it's vile. But honestly not that much worse than some of the videos I've seen from kids' dance and cheerleading competitions.
Does it bother me that there are parents out there who let their daughters dress and dance like that? Yeah, I certainly don't love it. But the solution for our family is to not socialize with those people and not allow our kids (or ourselves, for that matter) to watch content like Cuties. I won't boycott Netflix over this, and we'd already removed it from the playroom tv after that 365 Days movie.

Soon, people will be sitting in empty homes, naked and living off of saltine crackers and water after all the boycotts.
I have somehow avoided all of these films except for Trainspotting. I never had any desire to see the rest of them because I simply don't like to play in that dark of a sandbox.Duncan Idaho said:don't forget Reqrium for a dreamamercer said:Duncan Idaho said:amercer said:

I saw a quote that basically said that filming the child actors dancing like that to show how inappropriate it is was akin to actually murdering somebody to show how bad murdering someone was.double aught said:It's still messed up that they had child actors dancing like that though.Tanya 93 said:
