I watch it religiously every Christmas; haven't seen Vacation in many years

I love both, but Christmas Vacation recycles too many jokes for me to put it ahead.

I'm one that believes Alien > Aliens. This is not a knock against Aliens - damn great movie in its own right, but I rank Alien as the best science fiction movie I've ever seen (at the risk of launching an off-topic discussion as to what constitutes science fiction, I do acknowledge the movie is often considered a horror flick).

I think I'm probably also one of 2-3 people on the entire planet that actually likes Star Trek: The Motion Picture (except for the God-awful Starfleet uniforms in that movie). It is not better than Star Trek II, however. Staying within Star Trek, I actually favor Star Trek VI and Star Trek III over II. In the Next Generation universe, First Contact is arguably the best of all the Star Trek movies, and certainly was better than Star Trek Generations.

Many others already mentioned here that I'd agree with. Not sure about the first two Godfather movies. I've seen part 1 far more times than I've seen part 2, so I'd need to go back and rewatch to make a determination on those two. Lethal Weapon 2 is more entertaining by a hair than the first Lethal Weapon. Terminator 2 was better than The Terminator.

Regarding Star Trek, First Contact is better than Generations(next gen) and might just be the best Star Trek movie in general. Especially since Abrams-verse are little more than action movies. First Contact approaches space horror it's so good...

Getting ahead of this...Superman II is almost unwatchable and in no way better than Superman.

Carry on.

Because Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is by far better than the first one.

Breakin' 2: The Electric Boogaloo

Breaken 2: electric boogaloo is a great answer. How the first one earned a sequel is amazing but for 8 year old me I'm sure glad it did. My brother made a turbo and ozone reference in his toast at my wedding.

True, but Ragnarok was one of the highest rated overall. Yuge gap between the two. Switch 1 and 4 here below and they'd have it about right...

Many would counter with The Incredible Hulk, which some even say is not really an MCU entry ...

Silence of the Lambs is difficult to rank.

Red Dragon and Silence are both top notch. Hannibal is...a step back. So, OP, could a prequel be better than an original?
I may be in the minority, but I like Manhunter better than any of the Anthony Hopkins movies.

I just started a rewatch of the MCU and did Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and Iron Man 2. Hulk isn't really bad. It's got all the elements to be good but just doesn't really piece them together. It lacks the charm and humor of the rest.

I would say it's definitely MCU though since Iron Man appears at the end.

I just put in a different category altogether.

Manhunter is by far a better climax scene than the two climaxes Red Dragon has (first blind chick and shotgun, then Will's villa on the keys). If I were to pitch that or a dimly lit police raid where the Dragon is blaring Inna-Gadda-da-Vida and blowing through a dozen cops before he is taken down by shear numbers, I know which I would prefer

That is a satisfying, bad ass ending. Look I love ralph Fiennes and norton, but they just recycled the hannibal/will encounter where will has a last minute revelation of the pathology (filthy little beast) and he gets severely wounded stopping the serial killer. It was a complete cinematic let down, imho.

Yeah, I agree that it's not really an awful movie or anything. I like all the MCU movies to varying degrees, from among the best movies I've ever seen to good-to-see once and might watch if I happen to catch it during a lazy Saturday afternoon on TV.

Not sure how the masses will take this but mine are as follows:
Back to the Future 2 - the future, flying cars, sports betting, two Marty's in 1955. 1985 Biffs Hill Valley/Hell Valley
Die Hard with A Vengeance- Samuel L Jackson, NYC, Simon Says, Hans Gruevers brother plus the silent chick with her knife play.

No issue with either of these per se, but I think the originals are just more enjoyable.
