IMO one of (if not) the greatest American rock band. Their list of songs is amazing

Saw him and Stevie Nicks at the Woodlands in 2007. My favorite music artist ever.

Expanded release of Wildflowers comes out in two weeks. One of my top 10 albums of all time. Can't wait. I only went for the 3 LP version though and not the $500 9 LP Ultra Deluxe Edition

I didn't realize how much he meant to me until he died. Was really sad. But good news is that he gets a seat at our game tomorrow.

Fentanyl is scary ***** Just amazing how this country finds the lamest topics to hate each other about as we watch so many fall prey to opiods.

It's not scary when used in a medical procedural setting. It's our most common pain med during moderate sedation/twilight anesthesia. But I really see little use beyond that, especially as an outpatient. Just so many better choices. Obviously it being used recreationally is a huge issue with how potent it is.

RIP TP. Didn't get into him until later in life, one of my favorites.

Was fortunate to see him play the short haft-time set at the Superbowl in '08.

I remember when I was a kid and 'Don't Come Around Here No More' was playing a lot on MTV - that video used to freak me out when they turned Alice into a cake and started serving her.

That's one of the most iconic videos of all time. It freaked me out a little bit, too.

Free Fallin was also a great video. Half-pipe skater girl mostly.

The worst of it all, was that he had fallen off a stage and badly injured/fractured a hip. Rather than cancel the rest of his tour, he self medicated, and finished the tour with three consecutive shows at the Hollywood Bowl, repeatedly saying that he didn't want to let his fans down. He died the night after his last show.

I loved watching that band in person. The synchronicity between TP and Mike Cambell was truly amazing.

This is the first song I ever heard from them, and it's still at the top of my playlists-

died a week after is last show, but everything else you posted is true. Hard to believe he toured on a fractured hip but you see it when he walked on stage.
What do you boys want for breakfast BBQ ?.....OK Chili.

I thought it was the night after the last show. Memory fades on me at times.

Wife: "Tom Petty is playing Red Rocks! We should go."

Me: "Tickets are $200+. Money is tight right now. We'll see him next time."

I swear he passed away a month after that show. We were living in Colorado at the time, too, but had just had a kid. Wife brings that up about every 6 months or so.
Life's an endless party, not a punch card.

USPS just dropped off my 3 LP version of Wildflowers & More a few minutes ago. Beautiful packaging. Can't wait to give it a spin.

I regret that I never saw him live. It kind of prodded me not to let that happen again. Saw Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles in the 6 months leading up to to COVID shutdowns. Both were incredible and good chance the last opportunity to ever see them live again.

I may Have mentioned it before, I only got to see Tom once, but it was a special show. 1991 in Gainesville, first time he had been back in like 15 years. His family was all there including his mom it looked like, they had a special roped off section for them. He got a key to the city from the mayor, and then jammed for 2 hours.
Great show.

Was fortunate to see TP live twice. We passed through Gainesville a couple of weeks ago when my wife caught a shot of this mural on some random building. TP was playing on our old iPod at the time, like it was fated to be...

Unfortunately, no. It was in March in Dallas on the front end of covid. It may have been their last public show before the hysteria started. Everyone was laughing about it at the show and then the world stopped not long after.

Giving it a spin this morning and sounds amazing. Also pleasantly surprised and how good the 10 songs are on the third disc. Usually the b-sides are b-sides for a reason, but these are actually all pretty stellar songs at least worth multiple spins.

Only beef is no download card. Drives me nuts when artist sell nice vinyl but skimp on the download card. Guess I'm off to pirate a digital copy.
