No need to halt construction, especially if the landlord has $$$ that's designated for the investment. They'll finish out their agreed upon investment and then hold for either Regal or a competitor to take over the property. Any idea who the property owner is?

I could see that.... However, they're putting Regal specific parts on the outside. I don't think they'd be doing that unless there was a pretty good chance of them opening up as a Regal cinema in the near future

If they are that far along, then it makes sense to finish it out. Dollars were already spent or obligated. It's probably best for all parties to perform as contractually obligated. Otherwise, it might be more difficult to sue for $$ they are owed.

That said, even if Regal or AMC "goes under", there's enough brand loyalty to warrant putting the name on the building. Even after a bankruptcy or sell-off, the remaining entity or entities will jockey for the Regal name to keep it going. That is unless a competitor with a better brand can sweep up the leases/properties in the hopes of generating better attendance.

We are in a very shaky position in the theater industry. The best bet is to find ways to optimise and control the cash flow bleed until the studio product is flowing again. Contrary to some "experts", the studios need the theatrical release to reach maximum revenues on blockbusters. Otherwise, they are cutting out the "bread and butter".

A new Regal was supposed to open up right down the street from our neighborhood. Even with their announcements, they construction crews appear to still be working on it... so I'm hopeful.

We have one they just finished right down the road from me in Spring, TX. It looks really nice and about 3 mins from the house. Should be great when it opens.
