I just RE-watched Doctor Strange with the kids and when I first watched it, it seemed weird and disjointed or forced... upon RE-watch, I think it plays actually quite well. (Still weird but at least the weird made better sense in the movie)

There are others that I think of that have done this to me... like Interstellar, or The Social Network.

There are a few comedies that I thought were okay at first watch and seem to get better and better with every re-watch. A few that come to mind:

-Bottlerocket
-Office Space
-Most of Wes Anderson's films...I love them all but they all seem to get better and better each time I watch

The Big Lebowski (that movie gets better with every watch)
Step Brothers (didn't find it as funny the first time)
The Big Short (had to watch it a second time to catch everything)

Superman II: Loved it as a kid. It's unwatchable now. Absolutely terrible.

Star Wars VII-IX: They get worse the more I watch them. Some of that is simply due to the incessant debates we've had on here about them that have impacted my POV.

The Thing: Loved it then and I love it even more now. Watch it every year. Someone else said that John Carpenter had one of the greatest runs of any director ever with the movies he released back then. Just incredible.

All three of the new star wars movies. Entertaining for me on first watch. now they are retch inducing crap.

The Pacific series. Much better on the second watch for me.
God loves you so much He'll meet you where you are. He also loves you too much to allow to stay where you are.

First viewing I thought it was a really bad movie. After a re-watch I realized it was a horrible POS waste of celluloid.

Loved that movie when it came out. Granted, I was 9 and thought I was a cowboy. I still find it great entertainment while realizing it's an awful movie.

As far as the third trilogy Star Wars movies, they were mostly bas on first viewing and only got worse.

But Casablanca for me. Saw it when I was too young to appreciate it. When I watched it later I saw it for the masterpiece it is.

Controversial: But it takes a while to get Ferris Bueller into having fun skipping school, the beginning of that movie could move a little quicker.

Raising Arizona.

I saw an advanced screening in Houston with two of my buddies back in 1987. I don't think we laughed one time. Strange, because we were quite baked. I do remember how confused we were with the opening sequence of the movie since it was over 10 minutes long. And after that 10 minutes, the yodelling kicked-in and we were convinced that the movie was over.

To this day, the three of us are still the best of friends and we constantly quote the movie. We still laugh at how stupid we were at the time to not fully appreciate that moment in Houston. I don't know, maybe it was Utah.

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. I had only seen it a few times, once at the theater and another few times on TV but hadn't seen it since mid 90s. When the new one came out in the theater recently the wife and I thought it would be a good idea to rewatch the original first so we talked it up with the kids at dinner and told them how hilarious it was. We put it on the TV and my son saw there was a sequel too so he got excited that we could watch both before watching the new release at the theater.

30 minutes in and we all looked at each other like "meh" and my kids say this movie is terrible and I agreed. I cant believe I liked it back in the day I don't know why it was so popular.

Way back in the early '80's, I watched Heavy Metal on cable a dozen times or more. As a 12 year old, it was the coolest movie ever. I hadn't seen it since then and when I was a freshman at A&M in 1990 they showed it at Rudder at a midnight screening.

My roommate had never seen or heard of it, so I convinced him to go see it with me. The walk back from Rudder to our dorm was filled with my apologies. I told him "I guess it's cool when you're 12." The movie was utter crap when I got a little older.

Miami Vice. Didn't like it the first time. Have watched since and it has grown on me. I wish they would make a sequel. It needs it.

Flight Club.

Was too young and didn't get it back in 99. Watched it for the 2nd time the other day. 20 years later (and sorta remembering the plot twist)... it was a hellulva good time! Great flick!

Need to watch this again. Haven't seen it since it came out.

Hated "Not Another Team Movie" in theater. Think its great on re-watch.

Thought "It Follows" was mediocre in theater. Appreciate it much more now.

Terminator and T2. As a kid I thought T2 was the best movie ever. The 1980s special effects are way outdated; but I now prefer T1 for the better storyline and "bad Arnold" over cheesy "nice Arnold"

That was my first thought. Step Brothers was the same. Seems like a lot of Will Farrell movies are like this.

The Fountain w Rachel Wiess and Hugh Jackman

Couldn't sleep and watched it late one night before the day of a football game and said "what the hell did I just watch?"

Watched it again a few months later with the wife because she had to watch it, and actually liked it.

Got the music stuck in my head so bad I bought the soundtrack

I thought both Anchorman and Zoolander were stupid, the first time I saw them.

They both just get better every time, and I seem to laugh harder every time.

I'm still in the non-loving stage of step Brothers still. I haven't given it that second watch, though.

Big cartoon tittays are more entertaining when you are 12.

Interesting statement, as I don't think you could make that movie in today's charged climate.

Watched "Office Space" opening weekend because it was from Mike Judge and it made zero impression on me.

Caught it on cable a few years later and it was like a light switch went off and it became one of the funniest movies I'd seen. Several guys at work had the exact same experience and we quoted it constantly.

Grew up watching Ewok adventures then like 10 years ago turned one of them on. Holy god the quality of that movie and any effects in it were just god awful. Wicket's eyes were pointing in different directions for gods sake.
